Not sure he's a shelfwarmer. Most likely they're competing with Wal-Mart. Amazon will cut their prices to match, or undercut Wal-Mart during Christmas time. It wouldn't surprise me if they would do it any time of the year.

For $65 he is worth it. I love playing with mine, so does my son.

I would suspect neither Hasbro nor the retailers expect Ultimate Op to sell in large numbers until Christmas starts getting close, like most large pricey toys.

    Ebay:
Probably saw one offered by a seller listing on Amazon. Not direct from Amazon.

well most of the movie line will be shelfwarming...

until about october, and then they'll fly off the shelves!

so make sure you pick one up before christmas, OR wait until after christmas, where they are all clearancing... *assuming there are some left* lol

It was at $65 at one point selling direct from Amazon. Amazon has a very fluid price structure, though, and prices can change from hour to hour based in part on demand. (For example, I have some credit at Amazon and have been watching the price for Leader Ironhide, waiting for it to dip below $40. It's currently at $49.99, but has been as low as $42 while usually hovering at the $45 price.)

That said, Amazon has a "report lower price" feature that works fairly well. It's not instantaneous, but I've submitted links to them and noticed price changes the following day.

Correct, Ultimate Prime was $65 (Sold by Amazon) on Friday when I last checked. I am holding out for a 55-60 price range. Amazon prices fluctuate from time to time.

I heard there are rumors of the Takara version being released in the USA. But as I said just rumors. Optibotimus talked about it. I'll be getting that one if it true. I think it looks better.

Possibly a bit soon to write it off as a warmer....but yeah most of us don't expect it to do great numbers.

Optibotimus was only talking about the speculation on the part of others.

This speculation was fuelled by two things.

    1) People who didn't realise the Hasbro and "Supreme Class" markings were on the coin because Hasbro Hong Kong are also agents for Takara.

    2) People who want collector-oriented toys but don't want to pay collector prices for them.

Hasbro won't be releasing Jetwing Prime this side of Xmas, and since the DOTM line is coming to an abrupt end pretty soon, odds are it won't get a US release at all.

ITs called a sale, which is what a pragmatic business does to compete...
