This is a commission for a great guy. Wanted a more "G1 cartoon" appearance to him. I started with an original G1 Jetfire, added some articulated hands (thanks Zildjian) which retain retraction into the forearms, and swivel on wrists. Modified his hips and upper legs giving him more dynamic poseability. Built an alternate head using a C. Metroplex head, some epoxy, etc. Head (visor type) can easily be swapped in, has self-contained LED light, switch and power source (all jammed in) Jet thrusters also both contain bright blue LED lights toggled on and off via a small switch on each. Both heads are also on ball joints.

He's a beaut! Really loving your paint detail in the boosters/backpack with the gray & black paint apps... The whole thing is just a great update of the original figure!

The modded Cyb. Metroplex head looks a little weird, but that's a very minor gripe. Nice job all around. You should create another in the Dark Skyfire scheme.

Awesome work ! Perhaps - I would have picked one of those new 1/60 Yamato Macross Valks instead of the actual G1 Jetfire mold as base ( those Yamato molds already have great articuation...pricey though ) - but this still came out really nice.

Love the exhaust heat details btw.

wow, that's pretty awesome right there. there's not that much room in the head for all those doodads. top notch stuff as always.

i bet the articulation in the legs make for a mean gerwalk :)

i'm curious about the ball and socket you used for the hip. must be really sturdy as the metal in the legs will give a lot of weight to the swing.

    very inspiring.

yeah the electronics were a nightmare for me, but...I learned a lot. Top of that learning list was you can't solder directly to a battery (don't even try it, lol)

the upper legs/hips are from a Energon constructicon (middle figure) guy'supper legs/hips, shelled around it with original Jetfire thighs.

Very very nice Mike. I like seeing you work clean here. The head looks fantastic too! The flat tones and colors really work for that G1 feel.

    DUDE!!!

I really like what you've done with the revised hip assembly! You've made that tiny but critical alteration that makes an ancient figure like this hold it's own by modern toy standards, and for what it's worth... I think you've solved the hip joint problem with the Valkyrie design more satisfyingly than Yamato has managed so far... KUDOS!!! :thumb

As usual, everything else about this bash is pretty solid overall. I'm just really sold on the hips and thighs!
