I hate my camera, for whatever reason when viewed at full size (about 5000 pixels the image isn't that great. Still, hasn't stopped me having a go

Just need to wait on The Gimp to finish downloading so I can crop them properly.

What size dimensions are you looking for Kit?

 

Generally the bigger the better. The file I'm working with is 2480 pixels wide (A4 size at 300 dpi), so aim for something like that I guess.

Also, dug up the old Birthdays and unless anyone tells me otherwise I'll put them back in the new Calendar too.

I'll be putting them in as I go along. Right now I'm putting finishing touches to layout and fonts so I can crack on with the date information. Problem is, this is now the subjective part of the process and I keep going back and forth on what I like the look of.

I redid the 87 Digital Sunburst Background for Autobots and Decepticons from scratch, so now it looks a lot cleaner and holds up well against the 90's AM background now. Success!

I've gone for the white text on both '87 and '90 because that's how the packaging was. The problem is I'm slightly whiteing out the date boxes so we can actually write in the calendar which makes the text a little bit harder to read. It's something I can't check until I actually see it in person... may have to do a test print at home and see how it looks. I'm basically wrestling with practicality versus aesthetics.

Also I can't decide if the Mon-Sun information text should be bigger or not. Ideally I want it bigger but then it seems to take over the middle of the calendar (visually). Previously I negated that with bigger text but at 50% opacity it looked OK, but I wanna keep it close to the original packaging y'know? I think it's fine at the moment. I may change my mind.

Oooh, good shout. Kev missed out last year on a pic but one of his cover recreations would be a dead cert! Ooooh.

 

Kit, aesthetically right now, I think it looks amazing.

James and I were looking at his brand spanking new carded set of Decepticon Micromasters and we were saying how awesome a background the MM packaging style would make for the next calendar
