I figured this was different enough to go outside of the official WoW thread. Source: http://blog.wired.com/27bstroke6/2008/02/nations-spies-w.html
So..how exactly is this supposed to work? Espescially considering that most people act completely differently online than they do in real life. Hell, people even act differently from site to site, and forum to forum.
"What were your motives, Mr. Jenkins? What was your REASON for this unprovoked attempt at mass suicide?" "...'s not my fault! Least I have chicken."
I just picture some government employees that just happen to play WoW...."hey guys, give us a grant and we'll.....um....research the World of Warcraft! I'm sure terrorists are very active there and we're willing to....um....scour the WoW universe to hunt them out!" "We're not doing this for fun......we're playing Warcraft for national security"
Those brave, brave men. Putting life and limb on the line, subjecting themselves to pure torture for our country.
this is the most absurd thing I've ever read. The only radical thing they're going to find in WoW is the radically well proven "Internet Fuckwad Theory" as put forward in Penny Arcade (well that's where I read it) No, sorry guys, Osama and his Radical Islam mates are not hiding in caves in WoW, cos if they were, god knows they'd have been gang fucked by Kobalds by now.
Don't fundamentalist islamists (and even Islam in general) have a think against idolatry, which prohibits them from using iconic images at all? That's why traditional chess pieces used abstract shapes rather than "real" sculptures. How would WoW be different?
I'm not surprised by this. I've said for a long time that people's gaming personas are somewhat of an extension of their actual personality. That's not a good thing if you've played any multiplayer games recently. The world is full of nutjobs.
