Tyrese Gibson has been an actor, singer and model, so it's no surprise that he's hard at work on a film that offers fans more than meets the eye. "I grew up on 'Transformers,' " he said of the 1980s cartoon that is currently being made into a big-budget action flick. "It's a $200 million budget, and they are having a good time out there," Gibson reported, stepping away briefly from the New Mexico Air Force base that has been his home for three weeks of filming. "We are doing it up. It's going to be special." Still marveling over the vehicles he has seen, the actor said he couldn't divulge any details about the classic Transformers (Optimus Prime, Megatron, etc.) or the new additions that will appear in the November 2007 movie. "The film is top-secret. They've got me on a straight tight lip on this one. But the director, Michael Bay, is doing an incredible job. [Producer Steven] Spielberg pops his head around the set all the time. It's been crazy, man; it's a dream package for me. I love all the characters." When asked for any kind of "Transformers: The Movie" script details, Gibson could only shrug and offer up the little that he is allowed to say: "My character's name is Epps." ...

I'm convinced the film will NOT see a July 4th opening, it's way to soon. Thanksgiving weekend 2007 sounds much more appropriate, so I'm not surprised if November '07 is the final release date.

I just hope we still get to see a teaser trailer next month, or in the near future.

Hopefully this film will make more than the first one, if the budget is $200 million.

I think this movie is going to be a total flop if it ends up costing $200 million dollars. Summer blockbusters haven't been doing that well lately. It's going to be hard to make that kind of money back.

That's the second time i've heard that date but I'm not sure where it came from. Not that the extra wait would bother me.

That budget seems way off though...by around 50 million.

I did a search on him at http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0879085/, but the only movie that I saw him in was Flight of the Phoenix.

The character he plays in that movie was A.J.. I have to admit, that I don't remember him in the movie, especially when the real star actor is Dennis Quaid.

BTW, who is this "Epps" character. This is the first time that I heard of that name?

Budget is totally irrelevent. It's what they do with the cash that makes the difference. And given that some recent blockbuster flops have been poor quality, it's more incentive to get it right. We're in the right genre too - X-Men, Spider-man and Batman have all been great films so far.

I agree that budget is irrelevant. You will be SHOCKED at how little each of the LOTR films cost.

Each movie only cost around $94M !!! It is still considered one of the best special effect movies in recent years. Lets hope the 200M is put to good use.

I think the movie will make up that amount and then some. Just the name alone is going to ring a bell to 20-30 somethings all over the world. Even people who might have only been passing fans will likely make their way to the theaters based on how people react to nostalgia.

but that's just me seeing the glass as half full.

I've always expected a Thanksgiving or Xmas release. July always seemed to early to me, especially with all of the special effects they need to do.
