I opened up Brave Maximus at Christmas, I've had him since BBTS sold him for $100, but the first time I removed him from the box I saw all the twisty ties and put him straight back in, it took 9 years for me to bother opening him. Millions of twisty ties, probably the most in a TF toy? Still, removing twisty ties from an expensive rare toy is what I like to call a good problem. They are cheap, but not environmentally friendly, plus any serious TF collector has a pair of wire cutters handy for such an inevitability. (I still don't, every time I open a toy I think I should buy one) I sure do miss the ease of polystyrene inserts, but the environmental impact and cost don't make me lament it's passing too much.
I was about to mention Brave Maximus. Most twisties I have ever seen! Took me what felt like an hour to get him out, only to find out his stickers were upside down.
Give me ties (either kind) over heavily form-molded plastic any day. Ties I clip in a second. Damn fitted plastic can pop a limb off if its fitted too tightly.
I remember I received Armada Unicron as a gift the year it came out. It took me 45 freakin' minutes to find and remove every twist tie. Although I'd rather do that than risk having my toys rattle around the box and get broken.
There you go. Best and easiest way. I've used them for years, but yes I remember Armada Unicron was ne of the worst twist tie messes I've ever seen.
I miss twist ties. It was like an additional challenge to the Transformer. String sucks, and I can't get my fingers between the plastic to loosen the damn things.
Too bad they never worked, at least not in my area. I swear, there were more opened packages with toys missing during the period of twist ties than I can ever remember seeing beforehand.
I like twist ties because they are keeping the toys intact when they are being shipped from factory across the ocean,to us
