So, he got arrested for linking to other sites that were actually hosting the illegal material?
Will this stand up in court?
I sure as hell hope not. It's completely ludicrous. I expect they thought they had a better chance of fucking him over than they did with Google.
So that's what happened to TV-links!? This will never hold upp in court, the site wasn't illegal, it didn't host any material it merely linked to it!
Shit, sucks to be him.
I wonder why, out of all the hundreds of sites like it on the net, they chose that one specifically.
Also, I echoe D_C's statement. Why go after the guy who points out FACT's failure to catch the real crooks. Why not actually go after those putting the stuff up.
Go after Google you asshats, or are they too tough for you to do some real work.
I wonder if FACT intends to use actual truthful evidence to try and get this guy sentenced. I hope the judge throws out the case.
Also, thanks alot FACT, now how the fuck am I meant to watch season 2 of Heroes, huh?
(Bolded for pissed-off-ness)
Even if he beats it, he's been thrown in jail and he'll have to pay legal fees, so he's still going to lose. Bullshit.
what the hell man come on the man was doing a good thing couldnt they let him be now what is going to happen to me at work i am going to be all bored with out all that free tv!!!!! GRRRRR
I was wondering why it wasn't working today
This absolutely blows. I loved that site. I was trying to go to it all weekend as I wanted to watch last Thurs Smallville. Bastards.
Talk about bullshit!
I only had a few eps left of "He's my master" to watch
I'm a little confused, so the site was just linking to the other sites that had the videos?
Yes. Nothing was hosted on TV-links. Everything was on Google video, VEOH, Youtube, Stage-6 and other simmilar sites. TV-link merely provided the links.
Thanks. That is fucked up
The G1 episodes were removed about a month or so ago... (most were dead anyways)
But I did like watching other stuff there!
No more music videos,No more Buffy,No more free TV!
Or we could wait for re-runs or even buy boxed sets of TV Shows.
Careful there with that sensible talk, this is the internet.
While i'm not going to pretend that i've never partaken in similar activity myself, whining when legal authorities and/or copyright holders make it more difficult to do so is pretty rich reguardless of what you might think about the legal trouble that the dude is in.
I've never used the site even once. If I'm going to pirate TV shows, I'm going to find quality sources. However, it is messed up that they're going after these guys instead of the actual sources, obviously just because they have less money and look like easier targets. If they went after Google et al to get the content removed, indexing websites couldn't link to it. Going after the wrong group is always a bad thing, no matter why certain people might be complaining about it.
