I don't know how good the movie will be, but I love this trailer:

    http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/teenagemutantninjaturtles/

Much of the look brings vivid recollections of the old comics (even with the pupils). Hopefully they can find the right balance between the comics and cartoons.

Let Michael Bay take note: This is how you encourage your fans. Next summer there will be two movies based on 80s toys and cartoons. So far, your movie is losing.

Looks great. But I can't help but think of that damn Geico gecko when I see those turtles.

You gotta compare apples to apples. How long has this movie been in development? The Transformers movie started filming the end of May and released a teaser the weekend of July 4th. How much footage could their possibly be?

When I first saw the turtles I was thinking "Holy shit that looks terrible". Then after watching the rest of the trailer they don't actually look half bad.

That was semi-enjoyable, definitely better than the TF movie teaser.

That was pretty funny wasn't it

Although for me personally I'd have prefered a 2D TMNT movie.Something about 3D Turtles doesn't look right to me

That ratio would be 100% to 0% if you're talking about the old cartoon.

I'm pretty certain I am. I have no reason to think these turtle shots are anything but promo pieces, and I think they capture what the feel of the film should be.

When I saw the TF trailer, the mood simply doesn't fit. It's an action movie based on toys of giant robots that turn into cars that beat the crap out of each other. The teaser made it look War of the Worlds serious. That's simply the wrong tone, and I heard several giggles in the theater when the title of the film was revealed. The teaser needed to take something, even basic proof-of-concept animation, and set up the film as something FUN - something that might recapture the viewer's youth, and remind him why he loved his Prime and Megatron.

Besides, the point was for Bay to take note of what they're doing. They are not trying to hide the turtles. They shouldn't be trying to hide the Transformers. He wants them to be a suprise, like the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park. But unless he's going to buck every marketing trend of the last 10 years, those robot pictures will be seen on merchandise months before the film screens.

Bonus: Eastman & Laird are a part of it... Looks dark and brooding like the original comics... Casey Jones is supposedly in it... Which means 9 irons will be used...

Not so bonus: read that Shredder's not in it... Was never too fond of the campy cartoon compared to the comics which most likely will be in it following the Mikey in the dumpster thing...

A very awesome teaser. Can't wait for the movie, and then the studio and writer/director's next project: Gatchaman. For TMNT, I wonder if they'll be (re?)adapting some of the Mirage comics, or will it be an all new story?

Eastman and Laird? Wow! Peter Laird's been intensely involved in TMNT since the new cartoon and the revival of the Mirage comics, but Kevin Eastman hasn't touched it much, if any, in years...

Since you pasted that from the duplicate thread, I'll pase my response from the same thread
I seem to remember reading about that either on Mirage's official TMNT site or a site they linked to very shortly after the movie was first announced.

Yup, according to IMDB and Wikipedia, Kevin Munroe directed it and also wrote it along with Eastman & Laird...

Huh... I'd be interested to know just how much Eastman is involved. Laird bought out his portion of ownership of the TMNT a few years back and they are now exclusively his to do with as he pleases.

I'd lean more towards thinking that this is based on Eastman and Laird's older work and therefore he gets some kind of credit on it.

ALSO: Has anyone found a non-Quicktime version of this? I want to see it, but I refuse to use QT because of all the iTunes crap it comes with.

Well the Eastman and Laird credits are just for creation, it's rare to not see such credits. I think it's all Munroe on the story, origin most likely adapted of course.

Looks ... fun. I like the dark atmosphere - if the movie is more dark than campy, then it could be a really enjoyable film.

Thus far, TMNT > TF in the 80's movie race.
