Look at the toy pictures on the previous page. If you can see any resemblance between the Cybertron Hot Shot car and the PRiD Hot Shot, call 1-800-LENSCRAFTERS

For me, the cause of the animosity is the missed opportunity. The PRiD BB mold + that new head are PERFECT for Hot Shot. But they pissed it all away with the nonsensical color choices and deco.

I'm really starting to think that what I'm going to do is take this head:

...repaint it like Armada Hot Shot's head, and stick it on the Arms Micron body:

And just not put on the black stripe stickers. Boom -- a real Hot Shot homage.

The only hard part to wrap my head around is the idea of paying import prices for the freaking PRiD Bumblebee mold of all things.

but here's the thing,he need's a bit more red though to really make it a real hotshot homage, you can go with that,or go with my idea of pull a double whammy.

:lol  okay bro. You don't need to be a dick about things just because we're seeing two different things.

Oh wait ... I see you already had this argument on page 2. Well then ... this won't go far.

It was just meant in jest. I thought about adding a smiley, but I thought that might make it look worse.

But yeah, we've discussed it. People keep saying, "It's a Cybertron Hot Shot homage!" and I can't help get the feeling they are forgetting what Hot Shot actually looked like on that show and are just repeating what everyone else has been saying.

The only reason Cybertron Hot Shot ever entered the conversation at all when this toy was first shown is that it was the only Hot Shot of the Unicron Trilogy that was even vaguely blue (albeit a completely different blue that looks nothing like this toy). That is it. There is nothing else about it that calls back to Cybertron in any way. People have been looking for ways to rationalize the design choices made on this toy, and that was as good as they could come up with.

A smiley would have been great.

Regardless, I don't think anyone is rationalizing the design choices of this Hot Shot homage. IMO, and many others, there are plenty of cues pointing to many different Hot Shot characteristics in this PRID version, including cues from Cybertron.

Good idea. However, iffin ya don't care for the Micron (which could easily be resin-cast from an unused sample) you could just get the Robots In Disguise version of Bumblebee and use rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab to remove the black paint from the yellow.

I'd be too afraid of also removing the yellow paint from the roof of the car and the doors. Plus, I kind of like the idea of the ugly Micron ports on an Armada character. For them, it works.

Except that's backwards. The armada toys had the pegs on the bots, and the ports on the minicons. In theory, you could use armada characters as weapons for the AM characters.

There's a Solid Blue Bumblebee with green neon rimlights, but it is so brief that it is laughable to consider.

Ironically Vince's car is coloured more like the RID version.

Agreed - i think this new Hot Shot is a nice homage to all of his Unicron Trilogy incarnations.

Regardless of his origins, i'll be buying him and calling him Skids

    Yep.

Yeah, I could see that. Less of a stretch than Hot Shot, imo.

Not even close. Flames is the only thing that both have in common, but even those aren't exact. Vance's car has flames, but the flames on Hot Shot are more tribal.

He wasn't mislabeled. They intentionally called Hot Rod Hot Shot instead because Hot Rod isn't protectable. Supposedly they want/wanted to show him become Rodimus instead of start out that way.

So technically Prime/Aligned Hot Shot is Hot Rod with various Hot Shot design aesthetics.

I just thought of him as a Prime version of Tracks. It's fairly plausible

Well is he or isn't he? The game might say he is, but the toy says he isn't. Yet another case of "Aligned" coming out of alignment.
