In another thread someone (jokingly I think) suggesed turning Bumblebee into a troop builder. Now, maybe because it's late and I am tired, for some reason I saw merit in the idea.

Suppose a Shapeways kit was fashioned that could turn PRIME Bumblebee into a sort of Vehicon.

    Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions?

I've not done this with Prime figures, but I did it with a few DotM Bumblebees. Mainly I just painted them black, though, so they're not "true" Vehicons.

I think the premise is valid, though.

It'd be nice to thin the herd. I'd like to see what someone could come up with. It's too bad the yellow is so... yellow.

Maybe BB would take to dye well? I tried Prime Wheeljack and he didn't take it much at all (none of the white did).

How about a Giant Bumblebee Combiner made from like 12 Bumblebees. 2 per limb, 2 for the chest, 2 for the waste and hips. I'd call him Hive-Mind. That or Peg-Warmer.

    Edit: Sketch to come

Is there much rubbing with joints on RiD BB, such that paint scraping would be a significant problem? If there's not I would consider some normal repaints (but need ideas for them).

That...actually sounds pretty brilliant. A simple Shapeways headsculpt to swap out the normal BB head and a generic paint job later and BAM! Instant cannon fodder that is also cannon.

No, make it a BW homage and call the main BB "The Royalty".

I view it as a pretty creative way of dealing with pegwarmers...instead of bitching about them.

the idea has been posed to some shapeways artists, (The retired Fakebusker for one)

I suggest a 2 pack and 5 pack of generic heads like these, seperated lightpiping and print in FUD/cast and sell kits.

add a couple guns/new feet or something and you have a good "Hive Drone Bot" to cure shelfwarming.

and leaving the pegs full to rot with tuner mudflap and such will encourage more new molds to be put on those same pegs?

no, the retailer won't stock new toys it gets if nothing but shelfwarmers are occupying the pegs, look at RTS and the like, found at second hand discounters because the pegs were still full of skids, mudflap, and BEE.

    That's right.
Stores don't order B's- they order cases that have B's in them.

A lighter color like yellow would take dye pretty well. Also, it's an easier color to paint over.
