I have one of the first release versions, got it back when I was little for X-mas. Took 30 minutes to get out of the box or around that, drove my mom half mad in the process Still, he's awesome, and as one of the few supreme classes in recent years he's a great super-toy.
TRU clearance and item? I don't know, if they EVER actually clearance a semi popular toy, it goes down, like, a dollar. I've never seen a great clearance sale at a TRU like you might find at Target. Either way, at $50, there really isn't a better value for his size and mechanics. Great figure IMO. The only thing I can see anybody really critiquing him about is that he isn't a full sphere in planet mode, but that doesn't really bother me at all.
Hmm. I needed another option - "I used to own him (Armada Version) but sold him on". It wasn't that I didn't like him, so much as I liked the other TFs his sale got me even more!
I have the armada one and the energon one and I like them both. Will hopefully get the TRU one if they go down in price to keep in the box.
I'm going to get him as a graduation gift, or maybe a birthday gift. I haven't been able to scrounge together $50 all at once yet.
Maybe clearance wasn't the right word. But TRU had a huge online sale following the 2007 movie a couple of years ago. 20th Prime for $22.50, Alternators for $7, Reissue Soundwave for $7. I plan to wait with Unicron. My local TRUs has the same 3-5 Unicrons' sitting on the bottom shelf since January.
You could say I own the Armada version, or that I stole it from my brother But it is an awesome toy that most other toys look up to if they like it or not.
There are so many at the TRU near me, that you could buy enough to redo them into a solar system diorama. Unfortunately, I never had the original version and I'm not willing to plunk down $50 on him. I just think of the Star Wars crossover Millennium Falcon and the Death Star/Vader that I paid full for when they were out, only for them to be in a HUGE stack at TRU last Black Friday for half. So I agree, let's see what the Amazon's and clearance sales do for him, and then I might be willing to push for $25.
I stacked a couple deals/coupons I had for TRU and got him for around $30 back in the fall. He is currently wielding double middle fingers which i find funnier than I should.
have the energon unicron on of the most expensivest transformers i ever bought for $70 CDN back in 2007. but so worth the price for the awesome black deco.
just got mine about a month ago. am attempting to panel line him, hoo boy what a chore! like a lot of others I missed out on armada unicron, so the universe one is absolutely perfect. love how solid he is the only thing I don't like is that you have to take his planet-wing-thingies off during his transformation.
I leave the panel wings on. Sure they aren't how they should be in robot mode, but it's kibble one way or the other. Plus mine is still new and it's a pain to get them off.
