Only instead of putting them out for sale, they send them to be refurbished.

Toys R Us rolls out national game trade-in program, classic games accepted [update]

I just saw that today. Really interesting. I hope they give you more than Gamestop.

There are some games that I really want to get rid of, and if TRU offers decent credit for them I might do it instead of putting them on Ebay, since Gamestop offers very little money in return for them.

If their prices are good, then they could seriously give Gamestop a run for it's money.

I also like that they're sending them to be refurbished instead of putting them out like GS does. With mangled boxes and scratched discs.

Plus, I can use the giftcard on anything in the store, so I can buy a new game, or a new figure.

Yeah, GS just doesn't seem to care, they take them and stick'em right back up for sale. I once bought Star Ocean: TTEOT preowned and when I got home found that the disc didn't have a scratch on it, but a friggin' groove gouged out of it. You could actually rub your finger over it and feel it. Obviously it wouldn't run. Partly my fault for not checking the disc before I bought it, but that shit got returned the very next day.

What gets me is that they're taking back Atari and Intellivision and stuff. I just can't imagine why.

A wider selection for fans of retro game systems that Gamestop no longer carries in store?

I just hope this will be done and sold in-store and not online only.

    WHY? you ask?

See with used stuff, I always want to check it out firsthand so I can see EXACTLY what condition the item is in and make sure it is worth buying.

I know my brother would be VERY interested in any Dreamcast stuff.

I myself would be interested in any Gameboy(original-Advance SP) and Nintendo 64 stuff.

And also, this means you could still get new/MISB stuff traded in because it is unwanted or for an older/outdated system.

I remember going to an EB about 4 years ago and they had a full bin of factory sealed N64 games that a collector had traded in. Unfortunately, they wanted $60 a game and I didn't buy any of them because I either already had the game or I knew I could still get it New at a cheaper price online. Unless it's Mariokart 64. Not buying that was a fucking mistake for the ages.

The prices are about what you'd expect from Gamestop, except on really new games. Anything from before the PS2 you only get like 50 cent for.

So after going through the games I have sitting around and looking up their prices on the site, I'll get $57.13 in the form of a gift card for 11 games.........

    Yay?.....I guess?

    Exactly.

These trade-in programs just aren't good. Hell, I could even just set myself up infront of my house with these games and make more selling them like that.

Well, while we're at it I might as well shoot this out:

Anybody that's got used/new Dreamcast, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, GBA, GBA SP, & Nintendo 64 stuff for sale, I'm interested.

    --------------------

    Okay back on topic,

Yeah, total bummer. I hoped they would at least have older stuff. Hell, I'm even surprised they don't have any GBA stuff since you can still find plenty of it in stores today (if you know where to look).

Yeah, I got that. That's ashame though. It would be nice to be able to go into a store again and buy stuff from all systems like you used to be able to do at Funcoland. Oh how I used to LOVE Funcoland.
