Oh wow. I don't remember it being that cheap.
Well then yeah, $160 is stupid.

Wasn't it $89.99 during its initial release? Still, $160 is insane!.. and you're not getting anything additional to warrant that price.

I remember looking for this way back when and a TRU employee (who I didn't know personally) told me that he'd sell me his. I laughed in his face, but now, looking that the current price, looks like the joke was on me.

The price on these MP's is rediculous. The biggest hope in holding out for American releases was that they were half the price of the TT counterparts. I was pissed that I paid $70 for domestic bumblebee when the mold is worth $20...maybe. Cool toy but over inflated. Sucks that Hasbro inflates the crap out of this adult geared figures. Yes we have more income now that we're grown, but you don't have to jack up the cost so much. I'm just glad alternators ended before this price hike. That would have been depressing.

I think the price of the original release is being misremembered. The MSRP was announced as $100 but TRU jacked it up as soon as it hit shelves, then almost immediately after jacked it up to $140. The initial Takara MP-10 release was $220 at the e-tailers here. The rereleases routinely sell for $160 at the online shops now. Exactly the same price for the exact same figure. So TRU's price for this release is in no way shape or form a good deal, but it's also not a worse deal either. If I needed or wanted an MP-10, I would have no qualms about this price. Especially with that extra $5 off thing they were doing.

Yeah, the price is fair but I just don't understand how people are still clamoring over a 6 year old figure that has been re re re issued. Seems like everyone who would want one probably has one by now, right? Maybe a few people who are sitting on a YOTH MP10 might upgrade but other than that it seems like a lot of flippers are snatching this guy up. I hope they are fantastically disappointed when they realize no one is going to pay 250.00 for this guy. Just let it shelf warm so I can get one on sale for 80 bucks in the fall ;p

EDIT: Honestly, I'm just trying to convince myself that I don't need to run over to TRU after work and see if they have any and buy something I already have...

I think anybody hoping to scalp these is going to end up taking a bath after all the rereleases of this mold. Which would greatly amuse me.

This is not correct. Prime was $100 the first week and $120 when they re-stocked the next month at most stores. At a few very high dollar stores that have higher prices on everything (like the NYC Time Square store) he was $140.

Yup, just double checked my receipt to verify. He was $100 for the first run of pre-orders (which I missed). Second round of pre-orders like a week later all showed $120. It's been a few years, but the 33% (or 60%) markup is pretty gratuitous. There's a reason that Hasbro MP Bee has been hanging around as available a year later.

Yeah, I never really understood what TRU's game was there. Almost as if someone behind the scenes botched the "correct" MSRP and they did a running change to get the price where they wanted it. They did a great job pissing people off, I remember that.

Got lucky myself and snagged him for $99. That was a steal. At $160, I think I'd be tempted to go for a TT reissue instead.
