Todays' topic is Troopbuilders. I thought I had a similar thread but cannot find it. Maybe, it was on another site. Well, almost everybody loves troopbuilding, right? So, I figured a thread where all could talk about their FAVORITE figures to troopbuild. Wether it be G1 (extra Insecticon as Clones or extra Gnaw figures as Sharkticons, etc.), Timelines (Sweeps, Virulent Clones, etc.), Beast era Blendtrons, Energon Terrorcons, Dark of the Moon Dreads, etc. Whatever you love share your top favorites to troopbuild.

Also, while we're at it. Why not discuss what troopbuilders we'd love to see in upcoming toylines. :)

My two big ones are Prime Vehicons and CHUG Junkions. I have many of each in a variety of flavors. I would buy more Junkions if there were more color and face options.

I also keep 3 each of the Insecticons, Sweeps, and Cyclonian Armada. Not sure if that's a troop building level or just mild gluttony . . .

I remember having...well my son having quite a few of those Cruellock figures. As well, he had alot of those Energon Insecticons.

I really wish Hasbro had been smart...and...had three or four chest toolings...and...three or four heads per chest...I just bought into the Insecticon clones...I was about to sell my CHUG Bombshell & Shrapnel then realized I could troopbuild...now if only Kickback...

Even just two chests and all three heads would have given us 6 unique looks. Paint apps could differentiate further. I'm just bummed that we didn't get more of those kits Lucky Rogers kits to match Scrapheap and Junkheap.

I decided to do 3x of the Insecticons and 1x of the Deluxe Insecticons (since I kind of doubt they'll put out all four). It's fun having them crawling around my display

The only one I have that I'd really consider troopbuilders are six extra Gen Scourges as Sweeps.

All the repainted and bootleg Classics Seekers, if independent characters count as troopbuilders.

Shameless plug: I built an army of Generation Sweeps and Junkions, but I broke the armies up; I still have some left for someone wanting to build up their ranks. See my sales link in my siggy for more!

i love insectacons for troop building the fact there has been a few versons can easily add up

foc kickback g1 set legends class set then you have the energon bug and the prime one, its a easy troop building situation where you can build up diffrent toys then you add in all the 3rd party insectacons lol.

but as i have it i have aracnid as the queen and foc kickback as the king of the insectacons.

scourge and the sweeps can be done the same with espelly when you look at takara and hasbro offerings

    1. PRID Vehicon mold. I'm not sure I can have enough; though some friends said they'd have an intervention if I get more. I love the mold, I love the way they look in just about any formation. TAV Generals, PRID and AM all give some variations on the theme. I'm not sure if they count as separate but the jets are very nice as well.

    2. Animated Autotroopers. I know they came as a three pack and were quite hard to come by, but having those three guys are awesome.

    3. Energon Terrorcons. Okay, a bit vague, but having different versions to act as different ranks were quite cool and the Godzillasaurus and bird molds were just fun to get into formations.

    4. CHUG Seekers. This one is a bit different. I got the Classics seekers, the Timelines set, then the later Generations figures. The result is that instead of picking and choosing which is who, I have the main 6, then the rest are "background" seekers on the Seeker shelf (Along with Acid Storm), so at no point do they lose value to me as part of the Decepticon Air Force.

    5. BM Vehicons. I actually have a bunch of Obsidians along with many of the Deluxe Jet.

I should point out that a major factor for me is price. I have so many PRID Vehicons because I saw a bunch at Five Below and pretty much bought out their inventory of Vehicons. The Energon Terrorcons were in two packs on sale for the price of one on a Black Friday deal at Wal-Mart back then, BM Basics were a penny often at KB Toys if you were purchasing $10 of other purchases (Not even Transformers some times!), so I'd get an Obsidian then. I liked the Deluxe Jet and they had so many decos on it, that I got the ones I liked, Jetstorm, Skywarp, Sonic Attack Jet.

Had they been mass produced and cheap, I would certainly love to army build CW Rook and CW Blast Off as generic troopers. Rook as a kind of Autotrooper and Blast Off as a generic Seeker.
