Triple Changers are Transformers that can transform from robot into two different alternate modes. Which Transformers would you change into Triple Changers and what would their alternate modes be? Vehicles/ animals/ bases/ etc.
I wouldnt mind seeing the dinobots as triple changers with robot, vehicle (cybertronian?), and dinosaur modes. Or more minicons with a third mode, either combined, targetmaster mode, or something else entirely. The problem, of course, is that every time you add another altmode, you have to add parts to make it look distincitve, which dilutes how good the other modes look. Its hard to find a balance in a lot of cases, and I cant think of any triple changer (or 4,5,6 mode changer) than manages to pull it off perfectly. In a lot of cases, you end up with alt modes that might have one or two aspects to identify their general form, and the rest is an unholy mess.
Astrotrain and Blitzwing were spot on in altmodes and bot in my opinion. And maybe octane to a lesser degree. Sandstorm although i like the character was pretty meh as bot/altmodes looked.
I wouldn't mind seeing Flywheels and Battletrap being re-imagined as Triple-Changers. Otherwise I wouldn't mind seeing a Motorcycle/Helicopter or a Muscle Car/Submarine either.
I liked the horrorcons, animal/jet/robot. Maybe expand that to other Decepticon jets. Perhaps Thundercracker as a robot/Jet/bull or Skywarp as a Robot/jet/bear?
G1 Blitzwing does the best of hiding his other alt mode while in one. Astrotrain second best. I'm actually kinda surprised the classics triple changers we got were not better than they were. You'd think with modern toy tech, they would rock. Maybe our next Blitzwing will rock our socks.
More Horrorcon-style beast/vehicle toys, for both factions. Nothing like having a car accelerate at a wall and then explode into a big cat able to claw its way to the top. Or an insect able to become a tank or gun platform to shoot at pursuers. Or trucks which become bears or gila monsters to make the fight personal. Jets which become birds of prey. Aircraft carriers which become great white sharks. Space shuttle griffons and scorpion pimpmobiles.
I would like a Springer that is not: 1st mode- A robot. 2nd mode- Most of a helicopter on wheels. 3rd mode- A car with helicopter parts. I'd like each mode to be distinct in what it's supposed to be. G1 didn't get it right, and naturally FansProject is following in G1's footsteps by not getting it right.
Could be worse, the ani shockwave tank/crane transformation is rubbish... "Look an evil decepticon tank!" "No, can't you see he's lifted slightly off the ground, and his gun is marginally longer" "Oh god yeah, it's obviously a crane. my bad."
Some triple changers with more aquatic alt-modes would be cool. A robot that turns into both a battleship and a submarine would be cool.
The idea I had a couple years back for a triple changer would make me the most hated person in the trukk not munkee "war". So I can't say.
I think the alt modes should expand the character's abilities. Broadside sucked salty balls toy-wise, but the concept was a damn good one if you ignore the mass shifting issue. an aircraft carrier (Sea) Jet (Air) and Bot (Land) an Autobot SeAL. Astrotrain's toy -at least the one i had experience with back in the day- was fragile. G1 Blitzwing, IMO, was about the best it could get, even if the bot mode was really a brick. My 2nd choice was G1 Octane, but only because of his Bot mode.
I'm sorry, no. Astrotrain and Blitzwing were designed and produced years before Springer, and both have two clear, distinct alt-modes.
i would love to see a robot/dragon/wolf triple changer. i also want more city-formers. they where ideal triple changers, and most looked great in all 3 modes with little kibble to distract from the forms. it would be great to get an updated omega supreme toy that is a triple changer like the city-bots, and have the interplay value with minicons and legends figures.
I think the drawback for this would be they'd want the Triplechanger's two altmodes to each be for a distinct environment (e.g., one seamode, one airmode).
