    There's Diaclone involved...

    There are Italians involved....

And a sneaking suspicion of authentic Takara toys and Transformers details being copied.....

But no, this is not an article about a certain $3000 Black Tracks fraud, it's Part 1 of our look at Marco "Puffmarko" Salerno's theory that Italian distributor GiG were using the phrase "Trasformer" before Hasbro started using "Transformers".

So are you saying that Hasbro possibly copied GIG and not the other way around?

I think it was a very important topic to discuss about. I want to thank Maz for his precious help. During past years, I heard and read too many absurd theories by US people about GiG to keep silent.

Loved reading the second part too!

Are there GIG versions of the Mini-bots? I have seen a GIG Goldbug once but haven't seen any Mini-bots.

Awesome read as always. Made me curious to find out what happened with the GiG president so I dug and found out about the murder homicide. Did that ever get figured out as far as reasoning?

There aren't any GiG minibots. GiG released only throttlebots boxed, very close to the japanese counterparts except for the western layout, and no hasbro logos into boxes. After two years, Throttlebots were "reissued" blistered in euro-classic line together with a lot of other G1.

GiG president Aldo Horvat killed his wife and then killed himself without any known reason.

Thank you guys for the kind words, and thank you Marco for working so hard to bring this to the collecting community's attention. This is a very important story in my opinion and I was happy to be any part of it at all.

Maybe in a few years this information will be as widely accepted as the variations of Diaclones. It wasn't that long ago that I was answering questions on forums such as this about minibot variations and Diaclone cars that are now common knowledge.

    All the best
    Maz
