I'm not familiar with TF mythos, but its always struck me that the Autobot's inability to fly is a severe disadvantage (If Ironhie & Co. could fly, they'd have saved Prime from death in the forest fight).

How do the Autobots move around, bar military cargo planes? Space bridges?

And how do they leave Earth? I see SS and Meg just jetting off to Outer Space? Can the Autobots do that?

No. The general viewpoint on it is that the Decepticons can fly, the Autobots usually cannot, which is why the Aerialbots were a big deal.

In the movieverse, all protoforms in meteor mode can fly in space. Autobots lose the ability to fly if they scan cars that cannot fly. My guess is Autobots can fly if they scan planes and can swim if they scan boats, same as the Decepticons. There is no biological difference between Decepticons and Autobots such that only Decepticons can fly. In the movieverse, Cybertron started with Autobots only. Later on the Fallen convinced some Autobots to become Decepticons. The movies also show Decepticons becoming Autobots again. The Autobots and Decepticons both belong to the same Transformers species so all Transformers can fly if they scan planes. In TF1, you see all the Autobots fly to earth in meteor mode, then lose the flying ability after they scan cars. Many Decepticon protoforms who arrived in meteor mode also lost the flying ability after they scanned cars, tanks, etc.

Geez, then why on earth don't they just scan planes and save so much time!

A truck versus a fighter jet? Heck, Optimus, do something!

The only reason Optimus refuses to turn into a plane in the movies is bec. they prefer to sell Optimus as a toy truck.
In ROTF, Jetfire became an Autobot and he continued to fly.
In TF3, we might see the Autobot planes known as the Aerialbots who combine to form Superion. When the Aerialbots become Superion, Superion also loses the ability to fly bec. Superion is a humanoid robot and not a plane shape.

Think a F35 is a good fit for Prime.

Plus, although an F22 is 60 feet long, once folded in half, as SS does, its only 30 feet.

The toys have Autobot Springer as a helicopter. Small Autobots like Bumblebee should be able to turn into small helicopters. Wheelie can probably turn into a toy plane.
