    I've read that the US release of Transmetal Megatron suffers from fragile plastic and is prone to breakage, but the Japanese "Beast Wars Metals" version does not. Is this true?

    I'd also like to know what prices both versions go for these days, as I'm thinking about asking for one in the Junkion Exchange, but I don't want to start a new thread without having any idea what kind of prices will be offered.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    American = $10ish
    Japanese = $100ish

    It's all a matter of what people are willing to pay for something that won't crumble.

    Ebay:
    I've owned both so I can confirm the breaking will happen! My original TM Megatron broke way back in the day. I remember buying it in high school and Meg's did not survive my sophomore year in college. However, I did replace it with the Takara Megatron right after it broke and its been great ever since.

    As for price, I can't find many on eBay. I sold one loose a few months ago for 70 bucks, so a boxed one would probably go for more.

    Yes, apparently the Japanese version is better quality; however, he is very htf MISB and he would be more on the expensive side for Beast Wars figures, around the $100 mark I'd guestimate. A loose one should be less than that, but I've never seen a loose Japan TM Megatron before :S

    The Takara is leaps and bounds better in durability. If you watch for one close enough, you can get one for roundabouts $50.

    $70-100? Ouch. I don't think I'll be getting one anytime soon. I was hoping more for the $30-40 range, but apparently I was waaaaay off. Oh well :(

    Maybe the fact that this is so expensive is the universe's way of getting back at me for getting my Transmetal II Megatron for free...I just can't catch a break :redface2:

    Thanks for the help, though.

    EDIT: Cool pictures dude.

    Wow, really? I didn't know the Japanese one was so expensive. Might just get the Hasbro one and never touch it then.

    There are a lot of BW TM Megatron figures around $90 MISB on ebay; however, they are the Hasbro versions. If you try to find the Japanese version it is almost non existent, unless, you get the giftset; but then that will cost even more.

    Edit: Found this Japan TM Megatron loose

    If you just want the mold, you could get the Armada Predacon. Same mold, more durable and cheaper.

    Yeah expect to pay a ton for the Metals version. Maybe when the BW 20th anniversary hits there will be a rerelease of the mold (yeah, I'm dreaming).

    i think some one mentioned some where the armada mold was slightly altered beside the minicon ports, so if you want to get a tm megatron and armada predacon for waist replacement parts some mods are still needed.
