Product placement just hit a new low
That is not product placement. It is product integration, which is lame. Quite honestly, I have no problem with simple product placement. It is realistic that people will drink brand name pop and play recognisable video games.
From what I heard, it has actually something to do with the plot:
HIGHLIGHT FOR SPOILERS
From what I heard, the Energon Cube/Creation Matrix is (accidentally? Intentional?) activated in the middle of Los Angeles, causing some devices to gain sentience and robot modes. It's probably the same as when the Transformers were first created on Cybertron out of rocks/metals, so I assume that the products are infants (and if the Cube/Matrix is still re-energizing could mean that it only targets 'small' devices clustered together in groups).
The other part is everything that is advanced electronics comes from Megatron. When they found him they stole the Technology
Damn it, I still fear that he's gonna get taken out by a 'virus' that one of the codebreakers write...
Oh well. This is odd. but if we had Signal Lancer in Galaxy Force...
So he's the one who creates the X-Bots?
IF the whole plot device of having the matrix located someplace and automatically sensing mechanical devices and attempting to give them sentience/alternate forms thing is true, I don't have a problem at all with an Xbox 360 "transforming" or being reformatted. It's actually kind of a neat idea....the matrix is so powerful that it's going and changing things on it's own. I like it.
Also.....if Rumble or Frenzy is the Xbox 360....that's ok too. Maybe they're on a mission to infiltrate Spike's place or something. It's no less cheesy than having them be tapes. At least then they'd be a LITTLE bigger......
I don't see any real problem with this. We're getting "Soundwave" the boombox, so why not a few other appliances?
*shudders in pain*
Maybe we'll see a limited XBox360 release with an Autobot or Decepticon symbol
yea product integration is really stupid, a few films that spring to mind is the ipod in blade trinity and the converse shoes in irobot. They make it really obvious that they are advetising the product.
Haha oh man I actually think thats pretty funny and think it would be neat to see tiny little household electronics robots running around. I'm sure it wont be a big deal or main focus either, just a little side joke or something, so it sounds cool to me.
And how soon everyone forgets that Soundwave was a friggin stoplight on Cybertron There's worse alt modes
