I'm not sure if this is the proper forum for this question, or if this should go in the Toyark section.
I love helicopters, Airwolf in particularly. I'm thinking of getting a China Transformers Gazette Kindgdam Whirl Helicopter. It is a predecessor to Whirl and a darker color.
My question is, other than this, Whirl, and Tomahawk, what other awesome transforming helicopter robots are there? I'm aware of the Super Gobots Warpath Apache guy. What others are there?

There might be a couple of the newer ones not yet on there, but I guarantee that that site is more thorough than any single user here could be.

EDIT: Oh, I didn't see that you were looking for recommendations. Offhand I'd say Animated leader megs is amazing. I personally like ROTF Blazemaster though most others don't. Searchlight is out now and is decent if you're not into attack helicopters. Cybertron Evac is probably one of the best copter bots ever though.

 

China Transformers Gazette Kindgdam Whirl Helicopter?

Is that a KO of the Ovelon Gazette? That is a Japanese toy I thought. Takatoku toys is the original manufacturer. I would go for the original there was a warehouse find of them not to long ago and the price dropped from $400-500 to $150 or so.

This is the one I'm referring to and it does not appear to be a KO.
A while back I asked about another figure of the same mold. It wasn't called a Transformer, and it wasn't a KO. It looked like it was from another series, but if I recall it was a really dark color.
There's actually two of these listed on ebay. The second one is just a few bucks cheaper, but it's missing one weapon.

 

Actually I am really interested in researching that toy to see if its licensed or not. This is actually the original I am speaking about:

I have two of them and they are very similar, but there are accessory and sticker differences, as well as the boxes. I have actually been recently working on the box art for this toy. The original is from Takatoku, the same company that made the deluxe insecticons and roadbuster under the Dorvak line. The original Ovelon Gazette was made in Japan, not Taiwan. Now I want that Taiwanese one though for the variant.

 

So what's the difference between the two $70 dollar ones I've seen listed, and that $300 dollar one?

 

I'm not sure that figure is my style. Very nice though, but a strange combination of Prime and a helicopter. Just doesn't look right to me to see Prime that way.

The worst helicopter former has to be Blazemaster and any repaints of him.

 

No idea. The accessories are a different color, the stickers are different. Other than those noticeable things I can't mention on the quality differences. That is definitely a big difference in price.

 

I have this guy. Nice to put a name to him finally.
I don't have the weapons, and one of the fins has been broken off, but it's still a fun piece, i think you'll like it.

Wow. That Prime copter custom is great. As for great helicopter designs Cybertron Evac or G1 Spinister(I have an attachment to that toy, he's fun and simple).

 

Interesting concept, even more so considering TFCC was pimping the idea of the Evac mold as Shattered Glass Galvatron at one point.

 

It's a custom I had made by chans formers last year on cybertron.ca. I was getting rid of most of my non-Prime/Megatron toys but I liked the mold so much that I wanted someone to turn it into a Prime so I could have a reason to keep it. I've always liked non-traditional Primes and I thought Rescue Convoy (that's how I named him) could be a good idea. The markings refer to my daughter (J) and her birth date.  

 

Haven't seen anyone mention Energon Bulkhead/Superlink Sprung. I don't have the figure myself, but I really like the look of the heli mode. Plus the whole artillery attachment too.
