Travis Knight. He's awesome. Have you watched Kubo And The Two Strings?

Watch this closely over the next few days. There will likely be heads rolling and general panic at Paramount early next week over TLK's disastrous box office drop. As long as this actually starts rolling cameras we're in great shape.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if the early start was specifically in the hopes of getting it going after the underperforming open last week in the US. Studios are much less likely to pull the plug after they start shooting. They may have wanted to be over that hill before final box office tallies could scare studios heads and get everything put on hold.

Here's hoping. This is exactly what the franchise has needed for quite some time.

Lorenzo and Michael Bay are both producers in this movie. And Michael usually gives his creative input into the movies he produces. TMNT: Out Of The Shadows is a good example. He had the final say in how the characters like Kraang looks like.

You are onto something here. Wise.

I'd like to think that since Bumblebee Movie AND TF6 are greenlit, the budgets are also passed. However, the crew maybe trying to get things up and running before Paramount heads start having second ideas.

Paramount was having such a bad time over the past few years. Almost every single movie turned out to be a commercial failure. Transformers franchise was the only thing that kept Paramount rolling. It's really hard to think what sort of a negative effect may come out of the box office failure of TLK. I really wish Paramount would stop investing on stupid movies like Monster Trucks and let that money be used for something better.

However, Bumblebee movie may have a significantly low Production Budget and a Marketing Budget. If they cut down all the money for explosions, celebrity guest appearances and globetrotting, it'll have a very small budget with majority going to CGI.

I feel like this is too soon on the heels of the last bayformers movie to hope for a new style. The bayformers cgi models are expensive, leading too reuse. I was hoping for a fresh take, but it seems unlikely.

On the plus side, because paramount has nothing going for them at the moment, they're probably more likely to take the risk on Bumblebee as their probably isn't something else waiting in the wings that is more likely to pay off for them with that money.

But they still will probably freak.

Not the whole thing. It's going to start. I condensed the title as much as possible. :-D

    A few thoughts:

-since this is titled the "Bumblebee movie" (name probably pending), I'm hopeful we will see BB in the movie for a good duration of time, even if he's just in vehicle mode to save CG budget

-excited to see how a new director will handle live-action TF!

-hoping they don't screw with existing continuity too much, since this will be a prequel to TF '07.... I like "oh, so that's what happened in the past!" moments, but to many "wait, doesn't that contradict TF movie #X?" moments will piss me off.

They might need to shoot it in a week if they hope to make a profit. A spin-off of a franchise in free-fall focused on a character that has no intelligent characterization to date. It could be the best movie ever made, but it will be too late. The interest isn't going to be there, and they will wonder why. Or if they have good business sense and want to save the embarrassment they will pull the rug out from under this.

The interest could be there. The interest has held for a long time through absolutely terrible movies (which I am addicted to). If one of these actually opened to strong word of mouth (something I don't think any except maybe the first have enjoyed) you might be surprised. But anything less than a genuinely GOOD movie and yes, I'd agree that the ship has sailed and people are done.

I think this all may be too little too late for the Transformers movies.  The Bayformers have left a VERY bad taste in people\'s moths that I don\'t think viewers are going to care about a Bee movie, or TF6.  Like I\'ve said, Bay had 5 chances to fix all of things that made his Transformers movies bad, but never really cared to.  TLK is obviously showing that people are quickly losing interest to these movies that keep repeating themselves.  Any positive changes that were made in the Bayformers movies came way too late.  I think we\'re seeing the end of these transformers movies IF the Bee movie and TF6 can\'t generate enough interest back into the franchise.
