Got Transformers UK by Titan today. In a word: WOW. The story really does set up for the next epic, no doubt about it. The basic premise - alternate reality Earth is transforming into a new Cybertron thanks to the (now destroyed) Allspark. Optimus Prime has called in some "specialists" - headed by Evac - to take care of things. Earth is in a very bad way, Energon veins opening up all over the place, the Decepticons moving in with drone armies and Starscream plotting to seize the Energon to fuel an attack fleet. But that's not the craziest part! You see, the Dark Spark belongs to a new villain - Spoiler Jazz is revived using a piece of the Allspark, but because it was tainted, Jazz is now evil. Not a Decepticon, but a self-serving mercenary planning to do whatever he must to look out for himself. Self contained issue, but a lot happens. Definitely one of the strongest single issues of the UK run, but then a lot of the current UK run has been very well done, I'd say everything from Scorpion's Sting through Twilight's Last Gleaming and this current storyline carrying on from that alternate reality is some of Furman's best work, maybe eventually becoming as well loved as Time Wars or Target 2006. Art was great this issue too, the characters looked a lot like their toys, as opposed to the more Movie CGI-inspired art direction from the previous few issues.
