The preview of this that they showed at Botcon was great, especially the feature with Nelson Shin and others...be prepared to laugh.

The remastering really looks good too, and it really doesn't lose much from the former picture. I'm going to be picking this up on day 1.

I originally had no intention of picking up this DVD.
All of the extras have sold me.
I hope the deleted scenes aren't like other animated movies, with pencil sketches and voices.

Will they have a UMD version? And when is it going to be released?

Just to clear up the audio on SC - they said at Botcon they could not secure the rigths to the audio. Don't ask me how that works ... (maybe the actors' consent was needed and unobtainable?)

Anyway, the set seems awesome in theory. But in practice, we've already seen that this release is not all its cracked up to be. They've cropped the full screen version down from the Rhino version (check out the video on the new release's site). And I am a little concerned that the "Test, Deleted/Alternative Footage" will be as lame as the stuff on the first few Rhino releases.

But it's undeniable that it will be interesting to hear the new commentaries and look at the storyboards and fun watch the toy ads. I'm curious about the Easter Eggs ...

Yup, this sounds like a pretty definative DVD release.

Wow, they did crop out quite a bit. The special features sound cool, but I don't like that it's cropped like that. Maybe I'll just buy it for the special features and watch the Rhino DVD for the movie.

Someone will have to start an Easter egg thread after the DVD release. I'll be curious as to what all is found.

does it really matter if the screen is slightly cut off? not much is happening in the outer regions anyway, and most of us fans will have 2 or 3 versions of this film, so stop bitchin...just enjoy the fact we're getting a great special features set and cool commentary to go with the movie...i love that they fans actually had some input with this...i for one cant wait...i may have a substitute that day just so i can go to target at 8am and buy it and watch it all day long...

and man, that comparison, assuming its not faked, the colors look so much better that i dont even care about the little 1/4 inch of the screen getting hacked off...

This will be my third copy. I have the original DVD and the VHS I used to rent from the local video store when I was a kid, which I was able to buy when they went out of business.

I am very excited, and chopped screens or not, I am buying this. The extras sound like fun, and a widescreen version will rock--I already have my Rhino version, so I'm good.

I do wish someone could verify if they are chopping the screen for this release. I really hope they won't, but they've put so much into this DVD I'll buy it either way.

Wow, that much? I know, in general it isn't a lot, but there are some scenes where it shows (when Blurr starts talking, Perceptor is barely on screen).

It bugged me for a moment, but then I remembered that I didn't really care when the Back to the Future DVDs weren't cropped properly.
