Cool, I was hoping there'd be another prequel novel. The first one, while not mind-blowingly awesome, was entertaining enough.

So, will THIS book be in line with the comics?

As I'm taking the comics as the preferential canon so far due to the awesomeness that is Reign of Starscream.

I wish they'd've let David Cian write Ghosts of Yesterday as originally intended, he's had more experience with Transformers prose :(

Still, will pick up just for the sake of more fiction.

I will probably buy this, but I have the worst expectations. Ghosts of Yesterday (from the same author) was the worst Transformers fiction I've ever read.

And that's not saying much. I was less than impressed by his TF books.

As big as the TF franchise is, you'd think Del Rey could get a more well known author to write these books.

Wonder if he'll be given any artwork of the characters this time around.

Isn't Alan Dean Foster a fairly well-known adaptation writer? I believe he wrote the original Star War adaptation.

Technically, as far as the rest of the world is concerned, Transformers is an upstart new franchise.

    Yes, he is.

He actually wrote the original Star Wars adaptation and Splinter of the Mind's Eye, for instance.

(Note: the Star Wars adaptation was ghostwritten by him - Lucas is credited on the cover)

It was quite painful. I've read fanfics that were better.

The prequel book wasn't too bad. I enjoyed it a lot more than the novelization, and it gave a better sense of team-unity for the Bots, and the in-fighting for the Cons.

I really hope that ADF is working from a more recent script for the TF2 novelization than he was for TF1... that thing read like the "leaked" draft... and other than giving some more background on Lennox's troops, was crap. The addl dialogue of the Autobots was missing (most of the talking was Prime), as well as other bits that changed.

But I agree w/ Gen. Tenko - RoS has been a pretty good read - and the "movie" characters - excuse me, toys - that appeared was a nice touch. As well as Arcee's possible intro/reason for being on Earth for TF2

Having only actually finished struggling through the terrible Ghosts of Yesterday a few weeks ago after a year of trying, I think I'll pass on this one.

Prequel novel was ok - just wish they had been a bit more careful and tied the canon regarding megs in with the movie and comic prequel a bit better.

Foster said on his blog he tried a lot more not to contradict the comics this time round. Given the shorter amount of time between the films, it shouldn't have been too hard. He adds this book's original title was 'Infiltration' and features a lot of action and humour, especially in the human-robot interaction.
