Awesome, that is like 10 blocks from my house. May have to catch it once on the big screen just for fun.

    whoosh!

the was the sound of this thread flying over ilovedinobot's head XD

i love that (the re-showing of the movie). i watched the movie at 11 on the small screen via vcr, so like when SW OT SE were shown back in the 90s (i was too young to catch SW on the big screen then too), i'd love a 2nd at watching the movie on the big screen.

I would seeing as I wasn't alive for the first screening. But I live to far away to go, that and the fact I have the movie on VHS.

There's a locally-run theater that serves beer/food (technically a chain, there's like 5 of them now) in Austin that shows cult movies all the time. While I've never gone when they did, they've shown TFTM a few times in the past.

MAN! Why can't somebody play it in the state of Ohio? I was too young to see it when it aired in theaters in 1986, I was 3 years old. And ever since forever I've wanted to see it in a theater.

    Stupid Oregon.

I bet more smaller movie houses will do something like this next year to correspond with the new movie's release. I think it would make a hell of a double feature!

As a TF fan, TF time should be a priority. Everything ELSE should be considered spare time. :stick:

(not that I'm a good example of the principle... :(  )

Ok I don't come here as often as I used to so I may have missed this but are these theaters using an orignal reel?
If so does that not answer the wide vs full screen question, Prime turn to dust and all the other movie legends?

Actually, most of those myths have been disproven or explained.
Basically, the only difference between the original 1986 reel and the video releases after, was the wide screen. The width wasn't consistent, so only some scenes were wider and Hardly even at that.

Basically, there's hardly any more content in the original reel. But the experience of seeing it projected onto the big screen is so magical.
