Okay, I ordered TF:The Movie 20th anniversary edition off of Amazon.com. My question to you is, without spoilers, because I haven't seen it yet,What should I expect in terms of animation and general TF Stuff?
If you want to spoil me, please use the spoiler tags. I want to enjoy this movie the first time knowing that I didn't spoil it

IMO the Movie was as great as it's going to get. The animation was awesome all hand drawn. Storyline was good, The mixture of classic characters and new ones was great. All in all a wise purchase. Enjoy:wink:

The animation is still fantastic, even by today's standards.

Oh, and the music, while considered by many to be outdated, it still kickass.

If a certain part which is well documented but considered a spoiler doesn't bring a tear to your eye, you have no heart. The mixture of the scene, voice acting and music is enough to still cause a momentary heart sickness.

These guys pretty much took the words out of my mouth regarding what you should expect out of watching the '86 TF movie.

Well... I hope you enjoy cheesy eighties heavy metal!

The animation is great and story is ok,
storywise I prefer the 'sequel' though: Five faces of darkness part 1-5 in G1 season 3, though the animation of that is shit.

The movie opens great but to me the best parts is in the first half hour, epic battles in the begining. It's still great after that though, just slows down a bit.

It's pretty sweet animation, a major step up from the series.

The story is likewise beyond what the TV series did up to that point in terms of scale, themes, and being somewhat dark. Also expect to see who weren't getting toy releases in the following year.

The animation is magnificent. And the music blows most of today's junk out of the water.

Oh and listen to the commentaries, especially the fans one. The DVD also has "Easter Eggs" hidden specials you can look for. In the 80's the music wasn't cheesey either. I still listen to it today.

    Totally Agree.

I still feel the first 31 minutes are without a doubt the greatest thing ever to be made in regards to G1. I've watched it countless times and its still my favourite Transformers movie ever.

It generally helps if you watch G1 Seasons 1 and 2 before you watch the movie. Don't watch S3 until after though.

Enjoy it, it's a great movie.

Basically, if you've watched the series at all, just imagine pretty much every line that they were ever afraid of crossing back then was not only crossed in the movie but it was just trampled on.

It has loads of action, some comedy (kind of...) and just some very surreal moments. Every second of it enjoyable!!!

The film itself isn't the only bonkers aspect - the cast list is strangely impressive for (pardon the phrase) a 90-minute toy commerical. And the music is oddly rawk-orientated for a movie aimed at kids; personally, I thought it was a stroke of mad genius to mix 80s synth rock with snarly hair metal and Weird Al. :rock

Funnily enough, I now find myself wanting to watch it again...heh, reckon I'll do just that whilst I'm having some lunch... :thumb

The first and last thirds are excellent. The middle is a bit silly at times, but still very enjoyable and does the job of bridging the beginning and end together and furthering the character development of the main character.

It has an awesome soundtrack throughout and quality animation.
