This is about the actual songs and not Vince DiCola's great score.
So, its hard to argue that the songs in the 86 film didn't attribute to its power and following.
The tracks from 'The Touch' to 'Instruments Of Destruction' and on to 'Dare To Be Stupid' all made the film a great experience. BUT, for whatever reason, which track was the best? The feel, how it suited the scene, or just cos its cool?

Nothing beats Lion's version of "Transformers" - quite possibly the most definitive version of the song ever.

I could never understand why they didn't use it as the theme from then on in, royalties to Lion and the record co. perhaps?

Lion's cover of the theme song, hands down. Not that the competition is that great.

while i agree touch and the tf theme are prob at the top, i went with NGSiOW bc of how badass it was. during this tune hot rod really starts to mature, show leadership skills, and gives it to robosquid

I agree with this gentleman...although I did vote for Dare. Nothing makes me want to step on the gas as much as Dare.

Weird Al- Dare to be Stupid.

Instant classic when I first saw that scene.

Me too! Its one of the best driving songs. Its also a great track encompassing Hot Rod's role.

    It just works doesn't it?

I voted for "Hunger" from Spectre General. I know the group was known as Lion in the movie.

    Not quite.

Lion isn't the band with a fictional name. Spectre General were the re-naming of the band Kick Axe just for the movie.

Good choice. My fave has to be Instruments of Destruction though.

Can't pick just one. Gotta be both The Touch and Dare taking top spot (for the sake of voting and only being able to pick one I hit The Touch, but only because it was top of the poll list). Those two always put juice on my jock when I hear them, even moreso when I see them in the scenes in the 1986 movie. The other songs are all great though.

I'd really like an album of new versions of those old songs like the excellent Nightmare Revisited album I've got for Nightmare Before Christmas.

I voted for the TF Theme, but Instrument of Destruction is a close 2nd. When they played that song as the Autobots got slaughtered sent chills down my spine

I went for the Touch By Stan Bush, but to be perfectly honest I couldn't decide as they are all good songs and tunes

Oh definitely The Touch. It might even be like my favorite song of all time! Hell, I even have it as a ringtone for when I get text messages :lol

I do love a lot of the songs in that movie though, my least favorite being Hunger.
