Judging by the dvd covers, I'm pretty sure those two are Chinese bootlegs.

That copy's awesome. It even has a Fan track with some of the boys from this board. I got this movie on BluRay but I still kept that DVD because it's packed with goodness.

The one you linked to with Optimus Prime on the front is legit. It is released by Yinn Guan Video Limited. It isn't worth even that cheap price unless you want to get it just for collecting purposes. The colors are all screwed up on it and it is pretty much unwatchable.

I can't speak of the one with Rodimus Prime on it tho as I can't make out the info on the back. So it is definately possible this one is a bootleg, but I can't say for sure.

Don't jump to the conclusion that everything made in China is a bootleg. They have multiple distributors for things like DVDs unlike in most countries where there are only one.

Indeed like I mentioned about Hub airing 86 movie, get your dvr ready (I'm glad me and others have usa 2006 20th dvd with all interviews, old commercials, fan tracks, maybe best visual and audio of movie - plus I backed it up on my hd, remember guys external hd are your friend) but anyway :

Transformers: The Movie (1986) airing on TV | Facebook

    8 or 9pm on feb 18th I believe but read ^

Tbh I like my darker celled VHS version too, but the 20th dvd is a great buy and everythings better
or just dvr it, I posted info on 1986 vs 2007 thread with my poll in movie section of forum (of course 86 movie is kicking ass lol).

Check your local used cd shops. There should be loads of them out there.

Before the 07 movie was released, the 86 movie dvd was everywhere for $10.
    Walmart had it for $5.

I think I have that one. The menus are all in Korean, but just go to the bottom selection and press "enter" on your remote three times, and it will play in English. Then turn off the Korean subtitles.

    It's not terrible, IMO.

I found my copy of the 20th anniversary dvd at Kmart the day before it's release date. I was kinda tempted to mention to the employees there that the scheduled release date was the following day, but I decided to keep my mouth shut.

I'm quite partial to the 'Reconstructed' version myself, if just for a slightly different viewing experience. I've got at least five copies of the movie on DVD. And probably three VHS releases with different covers.
Basic DVD copies of the movie are always kicking around here in the UK. Poundland had copies for ages (as well as season one of the cartoon) for, well, a pound, and I'll regularly come across it at car boot sales. Makes it pretty cost-effective to pick up and give to friends' kids so they know there was also a movie of the original version of Transformers.

I would like some kind of Ultimate release though, stuffed with all manner of extras like a digital copy of the Marvel and IDW comic movie adaptations, animation model sheets, full script, toy and merchandise images and adverts, fan and production staff commentaries and so on.

I picked up this 20th edition version when it first came out, I think it was 19.99 at walmart. Surprised to see its value held up. Probably the best version of the movie out there.

Doesn't even hold a candle to the Blu-ray release.
