I've seen one made on sale at Amazon.com but it's a different region disc/player. Will the US ever get one? Hey, they made a GI JOE that came out last year. What's taking them so long?!

The UK version is region free.

I'm going to take a wild guess here, and say that this is neither news nor is it a rumor.

I wasn't quite sure where to post this thread. It's not news. Maybe walking in the line of rumor. Since the U.S. hasn't officially come out with one.

Not sure what they are asking for it nowadays, I think I paid around $30 about three years ago. Its a must have for me, Id pay more if I lost my copy somehow.

Just make sure its the UK version that looks like this:

Its region free, and plays great on my US region A PS3.

BTW, its Blu Ray, not "BLUE" Ray.

It looks MUCH better. It's gorgeous and blows the DVD out of the water.

    "Widescreen", huh? Bah.

    But at any rate:
    wat

    Also:
    If we're going to be picky, it's "Blu-ray". :)

Well to be totally honest, the picture quality isn't all THAT great - actually it looks like upscaled DVD. The outlines look kind overly smoothed out, as if it was heavily DVNR'd.

Do you have a copy? Because if you don't, you have no idea. If you do, my god what would it take to impress you? Except for the few shots that they didn't have film for..... it's absolutly beautiful.

Found one on Ebay that would be under $100.... and if you really want TFTM in HD it's worth it.

Yeah, I own it, and I still own the Sony version. I love the Sony version for the extras, but I watch the BD version when I simply want to watch the movie. It plays great on the PS3.

I have the movie on Blu-ray but will have to double check to see if mine says it is digitally remastered on the cover like the one posted above. I know it is physically a Blu-ray disc but I was very unimpressed with the expected quality/conversion. It looked like the DVD source material just put onto a BRD. I got it from Amazon about a year ago for under $30 so maybe it is just not remastered.

I own this on BR. It's ok, not great. The video quality is pretty good. Colors are spot on and the best it's looked since the original theatrical print. It also doesn't suffer from the artifacting occasionally present in some of the DVD's. You can see separation in some of the animation cells, as well as the inherent ink "fuzziness" of it being an 80's animated movie. Lines back then just weren't as clean as they are now. The audio kinda sucks though, as the mix is way off. It's much more apparent in surround sound, but even in stereo, I knew the channels were mixed up. Plus, there's absolutely no special features at all.

I bought it on a whim a few years ago. Not something I would really recommend. Eventually, even if it's years down the line, someone will do a proper, special feature rich, version on Blu-Ray.

If you have the 'Ultimate Edition DVD', I'd recommend sticking with that. I picked the Blu-ray up a couple of years ago, when I stumbled across it in the pre-owned BR section at Blockbuster, for a bargainous £6. I didn't really notice any difference in quality over the UE DVD.

It is totally worth it on Blu-ray. I have had it since it came out from the UK. I am using my PS3 and my DLP projector which gives me 10 feet of 1080p high definition on my wall. The images are smooth and the detail is more apparent, which you can not see on dvd. I have found one auction on ebay for about $73 buck here is the link. Hey, I didn't say it was bad, I just said it isn't great.

Also, the kind of transfer Disney gives to their animated classics. :)

I think it looks visually great, but I'm also pretty sure that we'll get a local BD soon. It's begging to happen.

I own it and I personally think it's better than the DVD.

It's really dependent on the TV set-up you have... If you have all the bells and whistles (LED, 1080, etc) then the picture quality will definitely show.

I bought the Blu-Ray for $25 over a year ago, but I wouldn't want to pay more than $30 for a copy since it doesn't have extras.

Who knows... They may release it in Blu-Ray format this year since it's technically the 25th year anniversary in August, but wouldn't they announce something like that?

    Anyways, to each their own.
