Looking forward to this!
Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t that what they’ve always done with slipstream?
Please let this be good and lead to expansions like Beast Wars, Animated, WfC/FoC, Prime, etc....
Going to pick up a couple starter packs and a few boosters to play with my boy and my buddy regardless
It was digital version one time but that version had different rules it got cancelled by creators it have same art from first transformers card game but not for me
That's great and all but we need to actually see how it's played. We need to see if it works as a game. Considering how WOTC haven't been too hot with Magic recently, I'm still very skeptical that they can make a good game from scratch in this day and age, but I'd love to be proven wrong.
I really don't like the choice of oversized cards though. Most companies don't make sleeves for them (which you'll need if they're going to be foils, especially with WOTC's terrible foiling process and general lack of card stock quality of late), and the larger size just seems like it's going to push up the price overall. Hell, they're saying booster packs only contain 8 cards (1 oversized, 7 normal, if I'm reading that correctly), and I'm willing to bet they'll charge the same price as Magic's 15-card booster packs.
Oh, and don't even get me started on this bullshit SDCC exclusive nonsense for the start of a brand new game. Yeah, that's always a nice way to sell a new product - make the first release some super-limited exclusive. I guess they think they're launching Magic back in 1993 again. Ugh. Just release the first packs in stores, dammit.
Like I said, I want this to be good and I want to be wrong about it, but there are few positives to gleam from the currently available information.
Considering how long it's taken them to make a decent digital version of Magic the Gathering (Magic Online is garbage, and the new Magic Arena is currently in beta albeit with a flawed economy as of the current closed beta), I doubt it'll be coming any time soon.
You're thinking of Transformers Legends, the shitty mobile game. It has nothing to do with this new TCG though (other than that supposedly reusing some of the artwork).
They need something for the refresh wave
Lol "investors". Those are the type of people who keep MTG absolutely insufferable.
Interested to see how this game works mechanically. Like, if every card is double-sided, how will deck building work? I would assume you use sleeves, but this is a different card size, so we'd need manufacturers to make new sleeves for an untested game.
THIS should have been what the awful, cancelled, mobile card game was. I would have bought a digital version of this and bought extra \"packs\" as iap style dlc.
So it's 8 cards per pack, but you only get 1 actual card that is of a character? Not really liking that, that sounds like getting a Pokémon pack that only has 1 actual Pokémon and the rest is trainers.
Which I am actually sort of OK with. In pokemon the Trainers are the real utility and power of your deck. Most of the pack is useless chaff anyway.
Only the character cards are double sided and being that the are twice the size of the rest of the cards, they won't be in the deck itself during play. More than likely they will either sit in their own pile to be chosen by the player when certain requirements are met or they will all be on the field from the start of the game.
I am really excited for this, Looking forward to both collecting and playing.
Probably a good idea to limit the first wave of cards to 40 and one character per pack now that I think about it.
I mean there are only so many Transformers they can make cards out of.
And something tells me they wont be diving into Beast Wars characters outside the ones in the show.
Jesus Christ there really is one in every thread.
Make that two.
This isn't for you. Get it through your head, you aren't the be-all, end-all of Transformers fandom.
I've been waiting for a tf card game for so long!
Color me interested. I just might pick up a starter set, depending on the price.
Big magic player here as well and I wish this had MTG's mechanics. Make Five different Energon colored lands and call it a day. Focus on kick ass abilities. Get Transformer fans into magic and vice versa. You printed Grimlock in Magic already... Duh!! And the cards are large? So we have to buy sleeves from Upper Deck (they have the Transformers gaming supply license). Ugh. Why.
Speek for yourself.
