I knew this had to be doing well here, the place was packed and people were loving it here
It beat out some great movies....
Way to go, and the money keeps rolling in! we need a sequel announcent soon!!
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH hell yeah
I wonder what this will mean for toy sales over there?
If I recall correctly, the runner up was Naruto: Shippi something or another... in weekend boxoffices in Japan.
EDIT- Sorry, Naruto debuted at #6 in Japan, way below our Giant Robots.
Domo arigato Mr.Roboto
How was the crowd? My buddy in Osaka went to see it and said the only part of the movie that seemed to garner any reaction was "It's probably japanese".
I can't say that Im surprised that the movie did well, with Japan's love of transformers and giant robot butt kicking action.
Cool. I was a little suprised at the $4 million opening boxofficemojo has, but I guess that was just the one day.
So we won't break a billion or anything, but $700, even $750 seems possible. A bonafide success by any standards solely with ticket sales--add in the licensing and DVD profits, we're rolling along.
They love their giant robots, and how! Great to hear that it's doing so well in Japan, can't wait to see the final box office takings for the movie.
Figured as much. With robot geeks to the left of me and right of me oozing with joy each time a robot graced the screen, I knew it was going to be loved by all who love robots, be they Transformers, Gundam or whatever.
