He could’ve benefitted greatly from some gunmetal paint instead of the just settling for the grey plastic...
I wish his lobster claw can turn into a regular claw.
This has to be hands down the most kibble-free transformable movie toy out there. I mean, I was at least expecting a phallus-like turret between his legs but damn, even that's missing.
Can't wait to see how this guy transforms, there's no kibble on his body.
Gray looks okay, would have been better if it was silver, but I'll take it
Silver drybrushing and a black wash are easy business. Frankly, I'm insanely excited for this mold. I've been w8ing for a movie-accurate ROTF Megs for almost a decade.
In all seriousness, yes please. Ever since I got Optimus and Starscream, I've been dealing with insanity while waiting for this guy to come out. ROTF's design isn't even my favorite, yet I'm still creaming my pants super excited for this guy to come out! Hasbro, people give you a lot of shiz, but I've always supported you. You've done well, my son.
Now, bring on all the forest fight pictures!!!!!!
That face sculpt alone would have sealed the deal for just an okay-ish toy — with how stunning the rest looks, this is truly a no brainer. Hopefully Studio Series Optimus gets a recolor down the line, but I am going for this guy for sure.
I can't wait to get this figure. I still wish they use the same shade of grey that the PotP Dinobots use, but it is was it is.
Yup, definitely getting him! I already loved him since I saw the first pics from Toy Fair. A little disappointed they didn't keep the full silver like they had on the prototype at toy fair though, but he still looks great!
This is definitely a pass, I still love my Leader ROTF megs
I know he doesn\'t have much paint apps but he still looks decent to me plus I never got the ROTF leader one. So this one will satisfy me.
Gotta leave something for the Takara/Anniversary version, like they did with the voyager. It took a decade to get him in the right colors.
I want this figure so bad!!
I hope they make a studio series TF1 Megatron
He looks pretty damn good. He almost has a sheen to his gray plastic which is really nice. I would have preferred a darker, shinier look but this works fine.
@is456 any more pics for us to feast our eyes on? Whats the articulation like?
I probably won't (I'm just too short on time), but I almost wonder if I should get my hands on 5-6 of these, break out the airbrush and just do a few of these to pass on. This really is very easy as far as these things go. It would be a great starter piece for anybody tempted to dip their toe in and try (you don't need an air brush, it would just be a lot faster if I did a bunch- I won't break it out just for the one I'll end up doing for myself).
Just my opinion, and probably not worth very much given that I haven't customized transformers since I was a literal child and honestly wasn't more than mediocre at it on account of being... A literal child. But.
ROTF Megatron had a relatively dull look to his armor. It was certainly metallic, but had the appearance of worn, patina'd gunmetal or iron.
Emulating that effect effectively with an airbrush would honestly be more work than just. Going over megsy with a quick black wash and some silver dry brushing. And it would also use less paint.
I've become very found of using gunmetal as my base and then dry brushing testor's silver chrome over it. The gunmetal would be applied almost exactly the way I think you'd do the black wash. That would the the time consuming part- covering almost (or) everything in the black or the gunmetal. The dry brushing would go pretty fast.
I think we're basically thinking the same thing. I did my ROTF voyager Megatron that way.
I'd only break out the airbrush for 5-6 because that gun metal/black would take about 20 minutes for the lot of them that way verus probably 20-30 hours with a brush. I seldom use it because it's a PITA to clean, but this would be one of those instances where it would definetly be worth it (but not for just the one I'll get for myself).
