Looks awesome! Much better art than much of IDW's stuff (I'd say, just an opinion).

I was just pontificating about unused character potential in the Trailbreaker thread over in the comics section. And here we go: a character I know very little about. I know that he was used in Headmasters in Japan, but I'm completely unfamiliar with him other than that. That alone makes me look forward to this issue, but I also enjoy the setup seen in these pages.

And the Terrorcons are involved! One of my favorite gestalts! Cool.

 

before Dreamwave went under they were setting up a Sixshot story as Shockwaves secret weapon. In the little teaser of him picking up Blitzwing's head (dreamwave) he seemed pretty huge and was going to be a good menace.

 

You know....good for Rob Ruffalo. I was worried based on his part work on Transformers that this was going to be bad, but optimistic enough to hope he'd improved over the last two years. And yes, he's MUCH improved. This art looks a lot better than anything in Micromasters or RID, and his layouts are much improved also. Based on these pages, so far, I think Rob has proven to his detractors that he's got what it takes to be given this shot. Good job.

Huh. Still not too sure why IDW insist on having such subpar artwork when there are so many good artists out there. The colors of those previews look good, but the art itself is just as aweful as I remember IDW comics having.

Someone needs to hire Guido Guidi fulltime so we can get some quality back. Between him and Don, IDW could eventually reach the DW standard.

 

It's better than I expected. Much better. he has improved a lot. the cover is garbage (well, the raiz one is fucking awesome), but the art inside the book is good.

He's missing all four of his wings after he transformers in the first panel in this preview image though.

 

I never really had a problem with Rob's artwork in Micromaster to begin with...However that said

WOW!! 

Talk about evolving one's art style, I mean it doesn't even look like the same guy at all. Oooo I haven't bought a TF comic since Beast Wars, but I'm sooo tempted to pick this up

 

Why is Sixshot completing Squawkbox's sentence in the final panel when Squawkbox is the one giving the exposition? Is that an error, or am I missing something?

Rob's art looks pretty good to me and not as rushed as Micromasters and RID. Very well done job on his end. Colors are superb as always.

As for the story, it doesn't really seem like enough to go on, though it's only the first 5 pages.

I think that one of the purposes behind these oneshots is plant the seeds for further subplots that will be revisited into the main stories.

From seeing this i get a feeling that Sixshots going to find the Terrorcons allready dead and go on a berserker rage.

Also I think the reapers are the sweeps because Galvatrons not megatron this time around and proberly a enemy faction. Plus ive seen art of the sweeps with energon scythes  

 

Hmmm... interesting - that WOULD be cool if we have a third faction in this war...

After all, it seems extremely organised as is - a third faction would throw a monkey wrench in both Prime and Megatron's strategies.
