I thought that too...   I would guess that line was added later than the initial recording, which easily happens with shows, and Steve Blum just got the inflection wrong.

 

Speaking of Controversy is Blades supposed to be a Girl-bot or is he supposed to be Airaptor/Archadis like character (i.e metrosexual and a bit camp to boot) or what ever that Anime term is for overly flamboyant slightly gender bending male characters.

Otherwise why's he squeel like a girl, talk about his weight issues and say dialogue in a way that sounds like a female at times. Also Is he supposed to be flirting with Heatwave or am I crazy ??

Perhaps some people will start drawing lots of loving fan art of Blades now too like they do with Knockout ?

Oh and I notice Levar Burton had toned down the Jamacian Accent a little too - he sounded more like Geordie today than he did last time.

 

What? I never thought a single thing like that with Blades...he just seems like a young character to me more than anything. The whole weight thing is a joke, mostly that the others brought up. Nothing about him says flamboyant or metrosexual to me like with Knockout.

 

Blades doesn't seem 'camp' at all to me, just an adorable babbu with slight weight concerns. Straight macho men can have weight concerns too.

My wife asked me if Blades was supposed to be a "stereotypical gay character" with the way he talks.

 

I cannot for the life of me figure out how Blades sounds gay. Is it cause he's quiet and timid? What in the world about him would make people think he sounds gay?

 

Really not seeing the gay Blades thing at all. He's just wimpy, really.

With ya on that one Maxxie...don't get why people try to reduce children's cartoon characters who are just fun and quirky to having or discussing their possible sexual orientations.
We should try to remember this series (unlike TFP) is truly meant for the very young ones. smh.

Exactly. There is no standard issue "gay personality". Anyone who thinks gay men are automatically wimpy or weak hasn't spent much time around RL gay men. Stereotypes suck.
