nice. I wonder what the mark is for the sequel. I know with Superman Returns they said it was 200 million or 300 million. It looks like it will be a hit, now its time to see if Transformers has some legs. I think its going to be hard to stay at the top next weekend with the Harry Potter movie, but its a good movie so I can see it lasting a month or two in the box office. I can also see them doing really well with the DVD/HD DVD/BlurRay Sales.

I really hope there will be a HD Dvd version of this movie.

A beleive a sequel has already been green lighted. The reason for the higher number on Superman Returns was a higher budget.

I hope they release more TF series on DVD now. Because it's so obvious that Transformers own!

It's going to do great, and there will be a sequel. Just remember to factor in $70-$100 million for advertising to get its' true budget.

Let's keep in mind Box Office Mojo only updates it's foreign box office totals once a week, that $36,253,961 is only counting June 29th through July 1st, and the movie has opened in a lot of countries since then. I'm betting the movie's already turning a profit.

That is way too high for the advertising budget.
There is no way that the film has to gross $250 million before it starts to make a dime. No way.

    EDIT:
    Oh yeah, Go Transformers!

I'm gonna see it for a third time this weekend.

Can't forget to count in DVD sales when all is said and done.

I still am hoping this movie generates $1 Billion worldwide when all is said and done.

The only question remains is WHEN will we see transformers 2?

I've said it in another thread: that 3rd place all-time on Wednesday number needs to be taken in context. The two above Transformers had little to no competition, whereas this movie has Die Hard and Ratatouille. These dollar figures make its performance that much more impressive.

As for a sequel, I can't fathom anything before 2010, especially if Bay's going to do it. It's not coming out next year, and it'll take a year or two to make it, just like this one.

I hope they take the POTC route and film the sequels together so they come out a year apart.

I hope they don't film back to back. Since when (other than LOTR) was that helpful to telling a good story, let alone a good movie? I would rather they stay 2 years apart.

I'm kind of surprised the budget was only $150 million... o_O  talk about a studio getting their money's worth.
