Prologue As the smoke fades from an overheated sky, the casualties lay apparent on both sides. Clearly, there were no victors this battle. The Commanders from both factions lay in fractured heaps, their armor and circuits still sizzling from the epic showdown, though their optics are dead of any life. The gestalt known as Devastator staggers forward, but quickly falls to knees, causing the earth to rumble and groan in protest. The combined life force of the six that make up this massive monster is quickly draining. Still, he tries to inflict one last casualty against his enemies, pulling his solar energy rifle to bear. As the rifle levels even with the Dinobot known as Grimlock, his arm de-interlocks and falls to the ground. With the sudden loss of 1/6th of his energy reserves, he, and his arm go into stasis lock. He drops face first into the battle field, even as the Dinobot manages to pull himself up into a fully standing position. Attempting to transform into his t-rex mode, metal screeches in protest, but manages to lock into place. Each step he takes, he has to maneuver around bodies, that of his fallen friends, or that of his fallen enemies. Some are whole, but most are shattered like fragile panes of glass. Grimlock knew the cost would be high, but nothing like this. Sadly, it would be much worse if he didn’t force Prime’s hand. After all, the fate of the planet was circling the drain. Of course, Grimlock’s thoughts on that were that of it had to end sometime.
