So, some people are telling me that Prime and WFC are related some how... but my question is... How? Like, aside from them both being titled Transformers, and the reference of Dark Energon... How is it related? At all?

The simple- and only- answer is this:

Because HASBRO said / decided for it to be so. That's it. That's all.

    Yeah, I know.... :rolleyes2

Primarily, it's through the novelization of the game, "Exodus: The Official History of the War for Cybertron". It and the Prime cartoon are both written based on the new story bible Hasbro has created that defines their new amalgamated treatment of Transformers, drawing on various aspects from various different continuities to create a "unified" story that will be the basis of Transformers fiction going forward into the new "modern" continuity they're creating. Backstory elements unique to this continuity/bible like Dark Energon and Prime and Megatron formerly being friends before the war are the first examples of these, having seen treatment in both WFC/Exodus and the Prime cartoon.

That's pretty much the only way it can work. Personally I took WFC and Exodus to be prequels to G1 in general, not any certain continuity.

Plus, since it's based on toys, we, as fans, can always make up our own continuity. Not that it'll be official or anything. That's what toys are for, unless you're old like me.

Anybody want to lay bets that this continuity link is something that just gets brushed under the bed and forgotten about?

It would probably be for the best, frankly.

^This. It painfully obvious WFC was intended as a Prequel to G1, hasbro just said it's in the same continuty as Prime. As much as it does make me roll my eyes, at least they are trying to tie things together with one backstory, so I understand the intent, it's just obvious that that wasn't the original intent

Yeah but there are elements from WFC, Exodus that do tie together, and we may even find them tying together even moreso as the series continues. I like that they used the Cybertron from WFC in Prime. I know that's not an automatic "connection", but it was a nice nod. That clip from the upcoming episode, where Prime is talking to Ratchet, he does hint at some of the friendship/respect that he once shared for Megatron (like in Exodus). I know Prime indicates that Dark Energon is a "new" thing, when Megatron used the shit out of it in WFC, but maybe there will be more connections as we move forward in the new series.

I've yet to read Exodus but this whole combination of elements from other TF itterations seems really cool. Like Frenzy and Rumble allegedly being mini-cons. Makes the other series not seem pointless.

Agreed, I don't see how anyone can say with a straight face thaT Exodus/WFC is a prequel of sorts to TFP... As others have mentioned it looks pretty clear that WFC is a precusor to G1.

Well, that IS what High Moon designed it to be- with Hasbro's blessings and approval.

It probably will, once the powers that be find it convenient to do so with the next retcon.

Hold on, so your telling me you can see how WFC connects to G1 easier then it does to Prime??

I'll admit I havent watched Prime yet, or played the game.

But, WFC just doesnt fit with any of the pre-established G1 continuities.

Hold on there, but if you have never played the game then how do YOU know that it doesn't fit in with any pre-established G1 continuities?

Besides, nobody said that it was a prequel to the established G1. This is G1 like All Hail Megatron is G1. But you yourself know this already.

So don't play this semantics game- you've been down this particular road too many times to know better.

    Not really trying to.

I'm just responding to the words in his post.

They seem to indicate he feels it fits with one of the pre-established G1 continuities.

If thats not what he ment forgive me for bringing it up.

But you CANNOT make the claim that WFC doesn't fit with G1 if you never played it.

It's like saying that you do not like a certain food if you never ate it before.
Or saying how bad TF3 will be, even tho you never seen it.

    Yes I can.

Even with out playing it I can know what characters are in the game.

And knowing what characters are in the game, I can say the continuity doesnt fit because some of those characters can not have exsisted on Cybertron of the past.

Its nothing like that at all. We're not talking about taste.I'm not saying I dont like the game, so it doesnt fit.

I dont need to try on a shoe to know its too small for my feet.

I may have miss read his words.
