    I might add some detailing that looks more like the movie design's "lava" armor. I could probably attain something like that with the stained glass filter on a new layer. The background might get a cool flame treatment as well.

    An update to the image. I made the flames a lot more dynamic. I might make another image where his other hand is out holding the staff.

    I think I actually like the flames on the first version better; they seem more dynamic somehow, and fit the feel of the sketch better than the new ones. But it's a very cool sketch. The use of the mosaic texture on the eyes and highlights is really interesting.
    Do that second pic, I have a feeling it will be awesome. :thumb .

    I have a Photoshop file for each version, so I might take the flames from the first (they're a seperate layer), and put them on the new version. I might touch them up using a similar technique for the new flames, like using blurring and liquify, but they'll look more dynamic since I hand drew the flames on the first rather than using a wind filter and blurring.
