Considering we haven't even seen accurate CGI renderings or animation, it'd be difficult to go into the whole "I hope (insert name) gets a toy!" that is so common when new shows/comics/movies come out.

My biggest concern is having the show on long before the toys are on the shelves. Animated had this problem, and it didn't seem to end well.

I just hope the writing is good because in the few images I've seen I think most of the Transformers look really feminine.. except for Satan (Cliffjumper) of course.

^ I HIGHLY doubt that. The similarities between the movie and Prime designs are superficial. Largely, they are confined to making Optimus Prime and Bumblebee look like they are the same character. Movie and Animated versions of those characters could not be more different considering their common G1 inspiration. Someone in the marketing department probably developed an ulcer over that.

I confidently predict a very different style for the Prime toys.

I also have an extraordinarily difficult time imagining a Transformers television show that not only flops, but flops SO HARD that NO toys are made of it. That's well out of the realm of precedent.

At least it's not a thread about whether or not there will be a Prime toyline. That makes it my favorite Prime thread (and one that actually serves a purpose).

Only an act of nuclear terrorism could prevent the creation of a Transformers: Prime toyline.

Anyway, I'm rather ambivalent at this point. I have almost all of the (few) Animated toys I want, and am quite content to collect the Movie and Classics-type toys. I'm honestly not in love with the look of the characters right now, but that's ok...for the purposes of the show, it's the writing and action that matters. I think Animated and Beast Wars are the best shows, but I have very few of the toys, and I'm fine with that.

It's really too early to tell though. The toys might blow me away. I will say that I think the Animated line as a whole is very impressive, even if they aren't my personal cup of tea (and it's not like I can afford to collect everything anyway). In the end, I'd be surprised if I didn't wind up getting at least a few of the standout characters from the show (presuming I get a chance to see it, not having cable).

Ugh. TF: Prime is going to be the new Flagship Transformers series for Hasbro in lieu of the movie series. Of COURSE it's going to get toys in its own toyline. I'm surprised that some people who have known of TF: Prime's existance still don't get the fact that t.v. series = toy line.
