Transformers Prime Revealers/Deluxe Cliffjumper 2.0 Pictorial + Review

Hello everyone, picked up only 1 of the new Prime deluxes from Argos today, no Wheeljacks or Soundwaves sadly. Anyways, onto the figure.

In vehicle mode, Cliffjumper is very nice. Sleek, and nicely put together. Sure, there are panel lines here and there, but they're very well done, and don't stick out too badly. He's very compact, however small.

His weapon can 'store' on his roof, or on the side. It's way to big compared to his vehicle, but looks like some beam weapon. Nice design, but pretty redundant in his alternate form.

Some comparisons with Kreon Optimus Prime and the Ice-Cream Twins. Very small compared to the much larger, 2 year old, deluxe.

    Vehicle Mode: 10/10.

    ROBOT MODE.

Absolutely love this. Screen accurate, sleek, and generally awesome looking. Faux chest aside, he is amazing. Fun to play with, fun to transform, and fun to pose. Arms are a bit annoying at times, especially with his odd elbow joint, which is at an angle, and in some poses makes him look lanky.

His weapon is much better in robot mode. Axe is OK, but I much prefer him using it as a gun. It doesn't transform or change at all, just two pegs, either side, for his hands.

Posing him is a joy. Pretty much all poses make him look awesome, and you can make him do an array of different things. Running, squaring off an evil Vehicon, or just standing makes him look awesome.

Just like in vehicle mode however, he is tiny. Barely taller than HFTD Hubcap, he really does not look like a deluxe class. The smaller sizes mean that people are getting less for their money, and can throw off buyers.

    Robot mode: 8.5/10

I still highly recommend Cliffjumper, even if he is on the small side. Fun, quirky, and sleek, Cliffjumper is definately one to buy. If you have the First Edition one, I'd recommend looking into this toy more, before spending the money, but for Prime completists and Cliffjumper fans, this is one you won't want to miss out on.

    EDIT: Video Review is up!

    EDIT: Size comparison request

And just to show off the light piping. The eyes look really nice.

I think I prefer the First Edition mold, mainly for the hand cannons.

Comparison with the first edition figure?

This is the same mold correct?

Yes, can this mold do that or no?

Don't have any other Prime toys I'm afraid. Different mould, and no hand cannons. The only weapon he has is the gun/axe (Gaxe?).

prefer the first edition, but might pick this up anyways and leave it in one mode or the other, great review, thanks

EDIT: wow, that's a tiny deluxe, probably just put this line from must have, to selective buying or passing, and if classics go the same way, i'll have to think long and hard whether i want to pay 35 for a deluxe or 20 for a scout

No matter how good this figure looks, I think I'm going to stick to getting the First Edition version, but we'll see...

    I'm kind of confused.

I thought the reason for the smaller deluxes in the DOTM line was the allocation of the budget into the Mechtech gimmick.

Now they're blatantly downsizing without altering the price?

If it sells, and they save money, why change it?

    Sad, but true. :(

However, looking at the Prime/RID stuff I've got, it seems the trade off for a smaller size is, frankly, better toys than they were able to produce for much of DotM. Perhaps they've been operating at the same reduced budget for DotM, and the Mechtech ate into THAT (explaining why generations/prime still look nice, rather than being largely unpainted, and badly engineered).

Subjective opinion, I know, but it's a thought.

Still prefer the FE version...but the livid face sculpt was enough for me to buy it.

The reason for Metchtech was to distract us from the shrinking size which in turn is explained by having to pay dividends to shareholders in the face of increasing costs.

It's funny, because Hasbro's shares are doing hideously bad at the moment.

Wow, they ARE getting smaller, it's not just the DotM line, a lot of people feared that (though a lot believed it was due to the MechTech, which this doesn't have).

Need more size comparisons, can you put 'em next to RtS G2 Optimus, any classics Seeker, and/or DotM Topspin?
