NEW PICTURES PAGE 2 Hey all. I just thought i'd share my custom paint I did to my Ratchet. I'm an amateur at this stuff so I did my best but I think it came out great. We all know what His rear end looked like before all blank and white. Here's my photos I took as I was painting it. Here's where i'm at now...basically it's finished I just have to find my white paint and do a layer of clear coat to finish it off. I think it makes him look 1,000% better. I'm still an amateur so any and all comments would be wonderful!!
Looks cool! May I ask what type of paint you use? I have no idea on model painting. Keen to learn. Feel like painting my Ratchet too after seeing yours!
Looking great, Hope it doesn't interfere with the robot mode, but I'd bet it would make the back pack look even better.
Thanks for the kind messages everyone I appreciate it. Aww thanks!! =) I hate painting always have the back just bugged me that much that I decided to paint it. I still can't believe it actually came out that well. I still have to clear coat him but once I do I'll post pictures in robot mode I know it's probably not the best for this kinda thing but I just use folk art paint but I do know that a lot of "pro" customizers use testors paint.
Hey man , Amateur to amateur , you did a really good job with the detail ! That's actually the same pattern I'm going to use on mine ! Lol
I did more painting to him. I decided to paint the Windows black and paint the back windows that weren't even painted. I also made the red on the front end go back farther and added red around the mirrors. Also head lights were painted too. It's not perfect but It does make it look better.
As I know nothing about painting and I don't know how to prime it's applied straight on. I know I should prob do that first but I don't know how
All you have to do to prime is, first, clean the figure. Then apply a neutral basecoat. In this case White and then paint your acctual color. Let the base coat cure for several days before applying your final color.
I'll have to try that next time I do something like this. Thanks for the help ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It's not perfect but I added more detail. -Painted above and around the windshield -Metallic silver Mirrors -Painted rims -added a little metallic silver to the siren lights. It's not perfect but I think it looks good to me. Looks better in person too
I Like what you done so far.. This makes me want to paint mine (when I find one) although I'm thinking of painting his entire top half (from the windows back) "red" that way he gets (at least half) his arm painted and some color to his boring rear! Show accuracy be damned! He's never in vehicle mode anyway!
Looks pretty good. You really brought out the detail on this thing. Such a shame that Hasbro puts all that time into detailing but then in the end it disappears.
cool have you thought about painting the tops of the shoulder pads red too? Would look much cooler in bot mode
