    I just don't like it.

Not entirely sure why, but it just seems wrong. You're supposed to buy them in their Alt modes so you can transform them then display/play with them.

What do you good folks think?

It makes it more difficult to figure out the transformation.

i like it in robot mode.

gives better look at detailing (paint apps, etc). For leaders it shows off the sound gimmick. Plus sometimes its just not possible to package the figure. I mean theres no way you could package Leader Optimus, Megatron, and Jetfire in the same size packaging. Plus when it comes to like the fallen and long haul it gives a better scope of the size it makes people want to buy it more.

Though it doesn't really bother me all that much, I'd say I do like it better when you get it in alt-mode first, and then you get to transform it into robot-mode.

It's kinda like you're opening the toy twice...Sorta.

Sometimes they need to be packed in robot mode so that they'll fit in the box. I'm sure that I'm not alone when I say that I'd rather see ROTF Long Haul packed as he is now rather than downscale him so that he can fit into the box in vehicle mode.

I don't mind them coming in robot mode. I am sure that packaging was a big factor in some of those decisions. Making sure what you see is worth the dollar you are paying. Long Haul in alt mode looks much smaller than his robot mode.

it has to be done sometimes.

look at jetfire's alt mode. huge.

or look at the only way long haul could fit in a voyager box. you'd just see his roof. he'd be a green square. no one would buy a green square.

i agree packing in Robot Mode is on occasion a nessasary evil leader jetfire being an excellent example of this that said i prefer in alt mode my self but what id most like in packaging is one in which it was impossible to look unopened once opened so the repackers/toy swappers would be stopped cold and could not pull there crap any more

The alt mode usually has less, for lack of a better term, protrusions, meaning there's less chance of breakage during transport if in alt mode.

I think I'd care more about having less packaging than what mode it's shipped in.

Okay, so for things like Leaders and the odd Voyager, I can understand.

But what about the RotF Scouts? They all come packaged in robot mode. I think the Legends do too. It's just not right!

The scouts can vary massively in size in vehicle mode. Dirtboss is a tiny forklift, but Ransack is so spread out in plane mode I doubt you could fit him into the standard box.

The practicalities of getting it to fit in the box may necessitate packaging in one mode or another.

But on personal preference I prefer alt mode. It's typically more difficult to transform to alt mode, and the fact that it comes in alt mode at least proves it can be made to fit together.

Also, alt mode means less twisty ties.

I thinay non-Leader Class figure should be packaged in vehicle mode. If he is in bot mode, then where's the fun in transforming him?
