    How do you say it?

I've always put the emphasis on the second syllable (Trans-form'-ers) like it was pronounced in G1. Now in the wake of the live-action movie explosion, I'm hearing people say the word a lot more in real life, and a number of them pronounce it with the emphasis on the first syllable (Trans'-form-ers), which just sounds weird to my ears.

In my experiences, The "TRANSformers" people are usually more casual fans or even non-fans. I remember hearing "TRANSformers" in a lot of movie reviews.

Now, I've never been to a convention or anything where I'd be surrounded by a lot of hardcore fans in person, but I was just curious how "Transformers" is pronounced within the fandom.

    So... which is it?

When was "TRANSformers" ever used in an official capacity?

The only thing I can think of is: "Hi, my name is Rad, and I want to tell you about the TRANSformers."

I don't understand the question. I don't think the syllables are distinct enough to be pronounced terribly different. It's not like they have accent marks or deep vowels or anything.

I think most of the theme songs and narrations say transFORMers, e.g., "we now return to the transFORMers". Conversations with people associated with the franchise (DVD extras, interviews, etc...) seem to use TRANSformers pretty extensively.

Let's start a new fanwar about it. Tfr not tFr! RIRFIB!

That's what I've noticed as well, most recently at the Hall of Fame dinner. I hear most kids accent the second syllable and that's how I've said it since I was a kid.

In the Galaxy Force opening themes, it's "Toransuformer". ;)

I've always gone with TransFORMers. I had always assumed the difference between saying TRANSformers or TransFORMers was a regional dialect thing, but I guess I'm wrong.

As a weird aside, I have noticed that when I or others refer to actual electrical transformers, the emphasis on any one syllable disapears entirely.

I can't even imagine what that would sound like. Im sure you emphasize a syllable, you just don't stress it as much. ;)

This was my assumption too. I live in the south, and I tend to hear TRANSformers mostly from people with stronger accents.
