Found a Transformers Kite today at the American Fork, Utah Walmart. It has Movie Optimus Prime on it, it was on a center island full of kites of all types, near the toy section. It is 52 inches wide and comes with all accessories needed to assemble and take it out flying. Price is $3.50, pretty cheap for an afternoon of fun with the kids, or that special someone...

These have been out for a few weeks already. And it's a repackaged version of nearly identical product that was available following the 2007 movie.

Looks like I win. I bet my wife that someone would make a comment like this. 1 sick 2 1/2 yr. old gets cough syrup, kiddy vapor-rub, stuff to get rid of gas in the tummy, diapers, shoes, and a 12 pack of combs...not exactly sure why shoes and combs help a toddler feel better though. :p

It's always good to know that other's found it waaay before the threadmaker, but didn't tell anyone else. Yep, good stuff.

And as for it being out a few years ago, search for "kite" and nothing comes up in a thread title...ever, til now.

That's kind of an odd item list. I'm going to call Richard Hester and inquire about more kites.

Yeah I saw those back in early January and figured they were just left overs from the from the first movie.

That's because it's a freaking kite. And nobody who saw them then, like myself, thought they were at all "newsworthy." Frankly, any TF product that gets frontpaged should be something at least noteworthy, that would appeal to most fans. But a kite (especially a repackaged one)? Not so much. Otherwise, it should at least be noted in GD or in the Toy forum (where appropriate) where those who might give a crap about it could at least be aware of it.

But enjoy your petty news credit for reporting a kite.

Plus, it's mass-produced -- you can find them at any Walmart and I'm sure other big box dept stores carry them as well. And it's a freaking kite, for crying out loud.

It's about as newsworthy as kiddie Easter Egg decorations or a box of Valentine's.

Oh, wait... those got frontpaged too. Nevermind. :rolleyes2

I've given up taking my time to take pics of new misc TF product and report it. To date, the last 6 items I've reported either other members got credit for (because I opted not to post them in the news forum) or the post was moved to another forum. Heck, even my reporting that Tara Strong broke her ankle and had to have surgery got bumped from the news forum. :wtf:

Apparently, it's all in who decides that it's "news".

Now I just give a heads up in my state's Sightings thread and leave it at that. In the meantime, if I see a specialty item that might be of interest to a lot of fans (note the "big" numbers that the kite "news" has in comparison to other news items), then I might make some effort to report it.

Yeah, I saw those at another dollar store too -- Family Dollar or Dollar General. I forget which.

Product like this is just cheap, mass-produced crap mostly. Which is why it shouldn't be news.

I saw three other different TFA and TF Movie Valentine's products (in addition to the one that was reported on the frontpage) including suckers (!), which you can still find now for like 90% off. Stuff like that is "newsworthy" to less than 5% of fandom.

Even if it only interest 5% of the fandom, news is news. Not everything has to be popular to be news. :p
