Looks more G1 than movie to me. He even still has a windshield across his chest, along with that doo-dad behind his head.

I stand corrected (I shouldn't write these late at night). Some other looks at the character throughout the issue show elements of both the Hoist and Dropkick/Salvage/Blowpipe characters. The vehicle mode definately takes cues from the Hoist/Longarm figure, while parts of the robot mode (such as the split windshield on the chest) are taken from the Dropkick series of figures.

As such, I've amended that part of the review. Thanks for catching that error.

Sounds good to me. I hope my issue comes in the mail either today or tomorrow. I can't wait to read it.

Ok... I haven't been the biggest fan of these new designs, but that pic of Swindle is EPIC.

Aaaaand Beachcomber gets taken down by Skywatch.

    Take that, hippie!

Interesting statement from Prime. Interestingly purposeful in that it implies he's there for some reason. I'll get this Saturday.

I have very much been enjoying the new TF comics, and although I wasn't completely against Don's redesigns, he has toned it down a little bit on the faces (such as the teeth).

That being said, using a slew of the animated designs for the comic was a bad ass idea.

Is this Optimus a Cybertronian version of John Locke from LOST?

I have to say that the latest volley of comics from IDW have been a step up in terms of writing. Still not loving Don's art, but I'm looking past that and enjoying the story.

Bumblee and Last Stand of the Wreckers are also intriguing. I'm breaking my previous commitment to trade only... for the moment :)

Locke is a way more interesting character than this version of Prime by Costa. This Prime is a coward who leaves his brothers to fend for themselves on alien planet against those that hates them. That’s not Optimus. That pic of Swindle is probably the best thing to come out of that issue.

    Spike: Tell me stuff
    Prime: Nah
    Spike: Dammit

That's pretty much the sum of it, though the dialouge is well written & Spike has a legitimate reason for wanting to get info out of Prime.

He doesn't specifically say, but he wants some
bit of useful information that he can use to impress the general (aka Daddy Witwicky)

Ah. Does Prime say why he won’t tell him anything? I’m really curious to see where this is headed. I do like how they are using the military more in this. It gives it a more realistic feel, if that makes any sense. Makes me wonder, since we saw all the Stunticons are the cover of issue 5, is something going to happen to Spike to cause him to lose control of Breakdown?
