These awards may have slightly more merit than the Scream awards. Really, though, they mean jack squat.

Now if TF gets an Emmy nom or an Oscar nom (it will for visual effects), then I will be impressed.

For the most part, I agree. This isn't an award the people behind the movie might be chasing. Anyone with the know-how to change IP address could easily vote many-many time for their favorite. As with most public awards shows, it based on popularity and avid fans or as promotional material if the contest is run by its parent company. On the other hand (unlike other awards shows), this does have some history as it's been around for 34 years now.

The way I look at it, it's just another way to get the movie more promotion. The Transformers name is likely going to be promoted there. It was at the MTV Awards, in which MTV is owned by Viacom (parent company of Paramount). It was at the Scream Awards, in which Spike TV is owned by Viacom. Guess who owns CBS?

Speaking of ownership and viacom, the following clip is pretty relevant: http://www.comedycentral.com/motherload/index.jhtml?ml_video=83360 .

My guess, the Cryptkeeper owns CBS.

Anything awards show besides the Razzies that has Premonition as an option is a joke.

    Edit: This is ChldsPlay

i think these do mean a little something for the artist. the fans vote for the winners. now, the artists know there are no allocades with winning one of these, but i think they understand it's their fans voting for them. i think there is a slight appreciation for them, even though when they get home they toss in the trash.
