We collect toys and spend our time discussing/arguing about the characters of those toys. In what way are any of us NOT nerds?

I find that the definitions of words like "nerd" and "geek" seem to vary(sometimes drastically) from person to person.

    For example:
By my definition just being a member on a TF board would make you a TF nerd/geek.
Although I guess if you're on here because you work on Transformers(like Bob Orci). It might be a different story.

Everybody that posts here is a transformers nerd.

Even the dudes that work at Transformers are TF nerds unless they hate their jobs.

No. It's not like adults buy the toys, or watch the shows, or see the movies.

Considering Tony is a "famous person", he's the most famous nerd in this board!

Sounds like you just , for some unknown reason, do not want to be considered a nerd. So you set some unreasonably backwards and tightassed standard to what makes one a nerd so you can ask us if you are that and we can pat you on the back and say "No Mr. Famous" you aren't a nerd.

Sadly, it's not to be. You are here, you are a nerd.... Are you a GeeWunner sir?!

Yes we have people like that here,
but by that definition you are not a TF nerd.

Although like myself and others have said. Being here definitely gets you some nerds points.

I think there is a vast difference between the words nerd and geek

For me a geek is someone is into something, has nerd knowledge but does not let it dominate his/her life. For these people there is life outside of the hobby or interest and they have friends who would not be considered geeks and are sociable. These people usually only have a passing interest in something. (the limit to being a geek depends on whether the hobby is interfering with their social life or they relate real life situations to something within said franchise)

Nerds on the other hand are like Kaliban from The Tempest by Shakespeare or Gollum from lord of the rings, their obsession over their hobby dominates everything and they must know everything and be in possession of all they can. The only times they venture away from the houses is when they are in search of more plastic crack (replace with any equivalent) or to meet with others of their kind.

That is what I reckon anyway. IMO I couldn't care less if someone is a nerd or geek, people can be what they want to be just as long as it does not affect other people in a negative manner.

I would classify myself as a geek personally.
