Here's part seven in my NASCAR series! Enjoy! Samsung Mobile 500 By: Bumblebee765 The Autobots escape the race unharmed. Greg Biffle in the #16 car pulls ahead of the #48 car and sails to victory! However, the Autobots can be in danger off the track as well… Optimus Prime was crouched over next to Prowl; both of them were observing a computer monitor. Of the two Decepticons the Autobots had encountered only one showed on the screen. Jetblast was somewhere in the state of Oklahoma, still trying to find his way the Decepticon base. As much as the Autobots wanted to go after him, it would just be a waste of resources. He wasn’t causing any harm, and was for the most part pretty defenseless. Slipstream on the other hand was a much bigger threat. She had managed to get away from Ironhide and Jazz without a tracking chip being implanted onto her. Prowl looked up at Optimus and said, “Prime, we need to find Slipstream. Jetblast could cause relatively small amounts of damage, but she could cause immense damage to highly populated areas.” “Indeed, I’ll send somebody to scout around and find her, but I can’t send anybody unless we know her general location. We need to keep our identity a secret, and our teams alternate modes would stick out too much during the day. We would have to search under the cloak of darkness at night.” “Well, thankfully there have been sightings of a strangely colored F-15 Eagle still concentrated in our state. Unfortunately that could possibly mean she knows of our location, but if she did she most likely would have attacked us by now.” “Where are the sightings concentrated?” Optimus asked. Prowl replied, “The sightings have been concentrated around the northern area of this state, fortunately much further north than our base.” Optimus nodded and walked out of Prowl’s chamber into the main room. Speedstrike, Huntress, and Death Track were all standing near the catwalks, talking about the race they had just run. At the sight of Optimus Prime however, they all snapped to attention and saluted their leader. “Speedstrike, do you know where Bumblebee is?” Optimus inquired. “No, sir, sorry,” he turned to the other two assembled Autobots. Huntress shook her head, but Death Track nodded and said, “I’ll go get him.” Death Track left the room and walked towards the hallway that led to the courtyard. About halfway down the hallway he stopped and stepped through a door into the shooting range. Bumblebee was taking aim with his right hand plasma blaster at a training dummy hanging from the ceiling. The Energon lines on the side of Bumblebee’s gun glowed an intense light blue and fired at the target, blasting a hole in the targets chest. Death Track clapped behind Bumblebee and said, “Nice shot! Optimus Prime wants you in the main room.” Death Track gestured over his shoulder with his thumb at the end of his sentence. Bumblebee left the room and Death Track activated his triple-belted machine gun. He aimed at a second dummy and lit it up with a slew of bullets. “My aim’s just as good as ever,” he said before walking out. *** Bumblebee walked up to Optimus and looked up at him, “Bumblebee, Slipstream has been spotted in northern Georgia. We need you to find her and place a tracking chip on her.” Bumblebee nodded, transformed into his vehicle mode, and drove off into the hauler garage. Speedstrike and Huntress looked up at Optimus and said in unison, “So… why can’t he talk?” “In the early days of the war he lost his vocal processor while scouting the city of Tiger Pax. Little did we know that Megatron would be there waiting…” with those words Optimus left the room and went back to Prowl’s observation quarters. *** Just as planned, Bumblebee reached the general area of Slipstream’s attacks just as night was falling. He transformed into his robot mode and activated and Energon locator on his left arm, and activated his stinger on his right arm. The stinger sparked with electricity, ready to stun the Decepticon should he see her. As much as he hated being mute, Bumblebee did have to admit it had its advantages. Especially on scouting missions like this one; he didn’t have to worry about making a sound. His Energon detector was spiking slightly, but it may also be picking up slight signs of his own lifeblood. He shifted back into his vehicle mode and drove along back roads until he could hear his vehicle mode Energon detector spiking faster than before. He transformed into his robot mode and activated the Energon detector on his left arm again, and the stinger on his right arm. He was on a small dirt back road surrounded by woods on either side. His Energon detector was spiking more quickly. Bumblebee slipped into the woods on the side of the road to hide as his Energon detector continued to spike more rapidly. His audio receptors started to pick up jet engine noises and he looked into the sky to find the source. While hiding in the trees a light blue and purple jet flew over Bumblebee’s hiding place. He aimed his stinger at the jet but it flew out of range too quickly. He flipped out onto the road and converted into his vehicle mode as before he hit the ground and drove off in pursuit of Slipstream. Bumblebee raced down the road, trying to get closer to the jet. Instead the jet was getting further from him. He shifted into the next gear and increased his speed. Slipstream was either tiring, or she had noticed Bumblebee. If the latter was true he may be in trouble real soon. Slipstream must have noticed Bumblebee, because she converted into her robot mode and spun in midair to face the Autobot scout. Bumblebee transformed and faced her; his stinger activated on his right arm, and his left arm plasma cannon was also activated. “Ah, Bumblebee, the wittle Autobot scout,” Slipstream taunted him. Bumblebee’s stinger crackled with electricity. “So how are you? Still an Autobot of little words I see,” she said. Her words made Bumblebee furious, and he charged at the Decepticon. He fired his plasma blaster and raised his stinger above his head. Taking Slipstream completely be surprise he hit Slipstream’s torso with pinpoint accuracy numerous times, causing her exterior armor to bend inwards exposing her mechanics inside. As Slipstream was on her knees clutching the location on her torso where Bumblebee had hit her he drove his stinger into her chest and unleashed an EMP blast to stun her. She would rise again, but hopefully not before Bumblebee had completed his mission. He knelt down next to her and inserted a tracking chip under her armor. It was doubtful that she would notice it even if it was on the outside because it was so small, but the Autobots couldn’t afford to risk it. Once the tracking chip was activated Prowl radioed Bumblebee, “Bee, the chip’s transmitting. I’m picking up the signal. Great job, now come on back home.” Bumblebee looked at Slipstream and decided it would be wise to move her into the woods on the side of the road, just in case any humans would drive along this road. After doing that he drove back to where his hauler had parked. His mission had been short and simple; always the best kind! *** Back at the Autobot base Optimus was standing behind Prowl looking at the same monitor they had been before Bumblebee was sent on his mission. Jetblast was still trying to make his way back to the Decepticon base, even though in all likeliness Megatron had relocated after Denier and the Wreckers messed with their power systems. Now though Slipstream’s name was also on the screen written in Cybertronian next to a red dot like Jetblast’s. She wasn’t moving and was located somewhere in northern Georgia. She must still by lying where Bumblebee had planted the chip on her. Prowl pushed some buttons on the keypad below the screen and the red dots slightly faded into the background to show brighter blue dots representing each of the Autobots. There was a confusing cluster of them where the Autobot base was located, and the dot labeled with Bumblebee’s name was moving towards the Autobot base. Data File:Autobot Data File Bumblebee Technical Data: Strength: 8 Intelligence: 8 Speed: 9 Endurance: 9 Rank: 7 Courage: 10 Fireblast: 7 Skill: 9 Bio: Bumblebee is a scout, plain and simple. When the Autobots need to know about the Decepticons whereabouts they assign him to that task. He can slip behind enemy lines, collect the data he needs, and get out before they even knew he was there. Jazz has been a good friend to Bumblebee even since he joined the Autobot cause, and is always there to mentor the scout. Whenever Bumblebee has a mission he can’t take on his own, Jazz is always his first choice. Before the war he was a data courier like Charger, but she carried messages during the war, whereas Bumblebee worked in more peaceful times, and gave up his courier duties when the war began. He charges into battle with dual plasma blasters, or stingers mounted on each arm. His stingers give off a powerful EMP burst to stun Decepticons in their tracks.
