Here's another in my NASCAR TransFormers series! Kobalt Tools 400 By: Bumblebee765 Once again it’s time for a race, and once again all the Autobots make it out alive! Tony Stewart in the #14 car is victorious! Only time will tell how long their luck will last… Optimus Prime stood in front of the two Wreckers, Topspin and Roadbuster. Topspin’s armor was black and white in coloration, and Roadbuster’s was dark blue and white. “You two will undergo a difficult, potentially suicidal, mission,” Optimus Prime said to them. “We have tracked Megatron’s base of operations somewhere in the Rocky Mountain chain near the border between the United States and Canada. You will infiltrate and perform reconnaissance. Another Autobot will accompany you for this mission; Denier, fall in!” From one of the doors surrounding the main briefing area the Autobot ninja Denier wheeled into the room on her wheel feet. The only major difference in her appearance since Daytona was the #7 on her arm panels and back rather than the #10. Her faceplate was activated, as it usually was. She never liked to show her face. Optimus gazed down on her as she joined the two Wreckers, “Denier, your experience in the field of infiltration and sabotage leads me to believe that you will be a good choice for this mission.” Denier lowered her head at those words; she knew what the price was for her skills… Optimus continued, “The location of your mission is too remote to take the haulers, so instead the transport jets will take you.” With that word the three Autobots saluted their leader and transformed to drive off to the transport jets. Optimus turned around when he heard the sound of a car approaching. It was Speedstrike in his alternate mode. “Huntress making you hold your end of the bet I see,” Optimus said with a slight chuckle before Speedstrike raced off after the #11 car that had appeared out of another room and sped off. *** Denier, Topspin, and Roadbuster sat in silence on their journey to the Rocky Mountains. That was where Megatron’s base of operations was supposedly stationed. No doubt his second-in-command, Starscream, would be there as well. Denier was glad she had the two toughest Autobots on their team with her; she didn’t want to lose any more friends… After a long silent flight the bay doors opened to let the three Autobots air drop into the mountains. It was risky, and that was just how Topspin liked it. Maybe he’d get a few more dings in his armor, just to show how tough he was. Risky situations? Impossible odds? High chance of death? These were the situations Roadbuster lived for! He free fell until he was yards away from impact before he activated his parachute, which said “Wreck and Rule!” on it. Unlike the other two, Denier was cautious. As soon as her feet left the plane she activated her chute. The Wreckers may enjoy being so close to death they could smell it, but Denier preferred safety. That made her area of expertise rather ironic. The two Wreckers stood on an outcropping of the mountains, waiting for Denier. “What takes this nancy-wankah so long?” Roadbuster shouted in a distinctly Scottish accent. Topspin simply shrugged. Denier finally landed, and the three Autobots set out to find Megatron’s headquarters. They knew it was near their current position; Prowl had managed to pinpoint its general location tracked it. The mountains sadly didn’t offer many opportunities for them to drive, or even walk, so they had to operate with more unconventional means. The team converted their lower arms into sharp spikes they could dig into the rocks with; a little gift from Ratchet. Denier heard a sound off to her right and looked in that direction. “Hug the mountain,” she whispered sharply at the Wreckers. They complied. An F-16 Fighting Falcon flew towards the mountain. Before it crashed it converted into the towering form of the Decepticon second-in-command, Starscream. He slammed into the side of a mountain just around the edge from the three Autobots. Part of the rock wall slid aside to reveal a large tunnel, which Starscream then walked into. The Autobots hurried inside before the wall could slide back into place. Once inside they realized that their task just became much more difficult. The tunnel extended to a lift, which was currently descending with Starscream on it. Once the lift reached the bottom the Autobots waited for it to come back up, but it was obvious that it would stay down there until somebody needed it to come up, and they didn’t want to wait till that happened. “Well, let’s go,” Denier said brusquely before drawing a two katana from her back and stabbing them into a wall to slide down. The Wreckers used their arm spikes once again. When she landed at the bottom Denier replaced her swords and instead drew two small daggers from sheathes at her waist. Topspin and Roadbuster reached the ground shortly after and drew their weapons; Topspin a large claw with a gun barrel between the blades, and Roadbuster a wicked looking chainsaw. The two Wreckers activated their visors, which looked much like many of the other Autobots’. Denier gestured for the two Autobots to follow her and stealthily set of down a cavernous corridor. They stayed close to the walls of the corridor so as not to be seen. If their mission was compromised the entire Autobot force may be crippled. Megatron would know the Autobots knew of his location, and would most likely launch a total assault on their base, even though its location was still a secret. No secrets could be kept from Megatron forever. They came to a fork in the corridor. Denier slowly looked to the right path, while Topspin did the same on the left. Denier flashed the Wreckers a thumbs up, followed by a gesture to them and the left branch, and a gesture to her and the right. They would go to the left, while she would go solo to the right. She sneaked off before they had given her a signal that they understood. I won’t lose any more teammates, Denier thought as she skated quietly down the tunnel. I can’t… *** Topspin and Roadbuster had a much different thought running through their heads. They wanted revenge. Leadfoot had died taking down one of Megatron’s soldiers; the least they could do was avenge him by crippling the Decepticon base systems. They continued running down the corridor. Stealth was never one of their specialties, but they knew that the mission relied on it. That was why Denier was coming along; she had specialized in stealth and infiltration back on Cybertron. The Wreckers tended to simply come in and start shooting. This was a situation where they were out of their element. Once they found a few Decepticons, however, then the game really began. *** Denier was surprised by how quiet the base was; she had expected there to be more Decepticons lurking around. She wheeled up to an opening on the left of the corridor and peered quietly inside. What she saw greatly surprised her. The Decepticons were running their base with a rather primitive generator. Megatron must be pressed for resources, she thought. She put her hand up to the side of her head and whispered through her built-in radio to the Wreckers, “Topspin, Roadbuster, I’ve found the power room. I’ll be hooking up a remote explosive to the generator. I’ll drive down the corridor and try to find you, stay where you are, okay?” “Alright, just hurry up!” came Topspin’s voice in response, his thick Irish accent evident. Denier approached the generator slowly, just in case there was any security measures put in place. When she reached the generator she placed a remote explosive from her waist, which could be activated from a remote, also clipped onto her waist, and placed it on the back of the generator. It would be less conspicuous there. After that she ran out of the room and transformed into her #7 GoDaddy.com sponsored stock car and ripped down the tunnel. *** Topspin and Roadbuster heard the sound of the car engine flying down the passageway. Denier reached them and converted quickly into her robot mode, wheeling to a stop. “Alright, our main objective is complete. Now we just need to find out how much information about our whereabouts they’ve discovered. This way!” The three regrouped Autobots whisked down the tunnel much faster than before. Even if they failed their secondary objective, their primary would still succeed. The trio rounded another corner to find a large room filled with data screens. Cybertronian words were showing on all three of the large monitors. Nobody was in the room. Denier approached the screens and performed a quick scan, “There’s nothing here of interest to us, just troop numbers. No specific names or locations. Their numbers don’t appear to be all that large either. We need to hurry, the Decepticons will find my explosive soon enough, we don’t have time to search for anything more.” “Roadbuster,” she called over her shoulder. “Radio for a carrier jet on our way out, Wreckers, roll out!” All three Autobots converted into their vehicle modes and tore out of the data room. They drove quickly down the corridor to the first fork they had encountered. The drove to the lift, which was thankfully still down, and drove onto it. They transformed and Topspin looked around before saying, “Uh… Now what?” “I don’t know,” Denier said in response. She gazed up at the ledge far above the lift. There was a keypad for a code to activate the lift, but Denier didn’t know the code. Then again, that never stopped her before. She detached the keypad from the wall, exposing the wires beneath. Back on Cybertron the rule of thumb was that the blue and red wires were necessary to operation on any piece of tech, she had to assume the same applied here. She unplugged the blue, and told Roadbuster to shock where the wire had been before. Roadbuster activated a small device on the back of his hand and did exactly as he was told. All of a sudden the lift shook slightly, and then began to rise. The ledge that had once been far above them was coming closer. Finally the lift stopped and the three Autobots ran to the doorway. Before they got to close Topspin and Roadbuster exchanged a wink and aimed their shoulder-mounted missile pods on the door, and they blasted it to smithereens. The Autobots ran out of the base and activated their second parachute, which had been planned for a situation such as this. As they coasted to the ground Denier unclipped the remote from her waist and pressed a button. They heard a large explosion rattle the Decepticon base, and they knew they had done their job. Overhead Denier could see the transport jets coming to get them. We all managed to make it out alive, but no matter how many missions are successes, I still can’t forget the lives that were lost because of me… Denier thought as she coasted to the ground where the planes were landing. She’s stealthy, and you never know where she’s going to be. She wields dual swords into combat, and uses them to ruthless efficiency. By the time the Decepticons are aware of their presence, they’re dead. On Cybertron she worked closely with a tight-knit group of Autobots on infiltration and sabotage missions. Before Optimus Prime and a select few other Autobots left for the stars her team was captured on a mission deep into enemy territory. Denier managed to escape, but the rest of her team wasn’t so lucky. The five other Autobots were brutally killed as Denier escaped. Speedstrike found her many cycles later and took her to Optimus Prime, who knew she would be useful. The death of her closest allies still haunts her, and sometimes distracts her from her work. She hates herself for running when she should have saved them. Both of her swords have Cybertronian symbols written on either side; she has never disclosed their meaning to anybody, and the only ones who probably ever knew what they meant were most likely members of her sabotage team.
