Here's an idea I've had for a little while, and finally gotten around to executing. I plan to write one fan fiction for each race, but I can't promise anything with my busy schedule. They will probably not be posted in a timely fashion, but I'm sure I'll be able to write them all eventually! If the 2012 season series goes well enough, I may do one for the 2013 season as well. Daytona 500By: Bumblebee765 The 43 cars are lined up for the start, on the mark they’re off! The #42 slams into the back of a jet dryer on Lap 160. An immense fire erupts. The #17 car goes through to grab a win!... In the base the #14 hauler cab was parked below a ring of catwalks. There were stairs on one edge of the catwalks. Other vehicles were parked along the walls; an on-track ambulance, the #7 Camping truck, #11 FedEx Express car, #14 Mobil 1, #29 Budweiser, #39 Army, #24 Drive to End Hunger, #2 Miller Lite, the Daytona pace car, and the #10 GoDaddy.com car. Away from the other vehicles the #88 Diet Mountain Dew car and the #48 Lowe’s car were distanced from the others. Up the stairs that led to the catwalks walked Tony Stewart, with Jeff Gordon on his right side. Behind them John King, Denny Hamlin, Danica Patrick, Kevin Harvick, Ryan Newman, Brad Keselowsky, Dale Earndhart Jr., Jimmie Johnson. All the assembled drivers peered down on the truck below them. Suddenly the grill of the cab moved forwards as the roof and windows shifted up. The wheel wells moved out and up as the grill compacted down below the main truck. The hood split and slid back while the back compacted down. Strong metallic legs lifted the truck up; the hood pieces flicked down and finished their conversion into arms as the roof and windows flipped down to cover the torso. At that same instant the head of the truck-sized robot was revealed. The robot walked up to the place on the catwalk ring where the drivers were standing, awestruck. The robot’s mouth plate slid back into its cheek area and it spoke, “I am Optimus Prime, and you have all been gathered here to assist us on our mission. We hail from the planet Cybertron, a long way from your galaxy. We have tracked the Decepticons to locations centric of your motorsport, which is why we’ve been hidden as your vehicles.” He gestured to the other vehicles as they transformed into robots themselves, which then strode closer to the catwalks. “My medical specialist, Ratchet.” Optimus gestured to what had previously been the on-track ambulance. “Ironhide, the weapons specialist; Huntress, our trigger-happy soldier; Death Track always gets the job done,” he signified the #7 truck and #11 and #29 cars in turn. “Hardcore, a former Decepticon, but he has the heart of every Autobot; Prowl, my investigative officer; Rev, our true hunter; Charger, who never strays from the task left in her capable hands,” the #39, the pace car, the #24, and the #2 cars. “Roadbuster and Topspin, the remaining two of a specialized group of Autobots known as the Wreckers; Denier, as swift as a ninja,” the #88, the #48, and the #10 cars were all named. “Finally my brave and loyal second-in-command, Speedstrike,” Optimus Prime finished the roster with the #14 car. “Sadly Roadbuster and Topspin are the only two surviving Wreckers. Leadfoot, the #42 car, died in a successful attempt to end the Decepticon Smolder’s life…” The two Wreckers looked especially distraught at the news of their teammate’s death. *** It was pitch black that night. The Autobots stood off to the side, Bumblebee and Jazz having joined them. The respective drivers of each Autobot standing in front of them, Jeff Burton in front of Bumblebee and Kasey Kahne in front of Jazz. All the drivers heads were bowed as Roadbuster and Topspin carried a large concrete slab. Resting on the slab was Leadfoot’s mangled vehicle mode. The Autobots saluted the two Wreckers carrying their fallen brother. Optimus Prime stood at the end of the line of Autobots, his trailer rested at the end of the group. Roadbuster and Topspin carried Leadfoot to the trailer, which was open, and loaded his body into the back. Optimus converted into his vehicle mode as the Wreckers closed the back of the trailer. Optimus hitched up to the trailer and drove away as the Autobots watched. They would never see Leadfoot again… *** The minutes turned into hours while the Autobots waited in the dead silence of the base. Nobody wanted to break the peace. Finally Optimus rolls into the base in vehicle mode and transforms into his towering robot mode. Jazz and Bumblebee approached their leader, and Jazz said, “The mission was a success, Prime. We know of another Decepticon.” “Who is it, old friend?” “Another jet dryer, Jetblast; Smolder’s twin.” “Who’s Smolder, and Jetblast for that matter?” Jeff Gordon inquired. A few of the other drivers nodded in consent. “Smolder is the reason for the procession you just witnessed. He was the jet dryer Leadfoot crashed into. The collision killed them both,” Optimus paused for a moments before going on, “Smolder’s location was a recent discovery, as is the knowledge that Jetblast is also on Earth, although his existence here does not come as a surprise. Smolder and Jetblast are Spark-brothers; they’re almost never seen apart. “We know of two other Decepticons, and they are far more dangerous than any others we may encounter. Megatron, leader of the Decepticons, and Starscream, his treacherous second-in-command; they haven’t been seen in quite some time, but we know they’re here waiting. Megatron would never leave Earth on his own terms.” “Why haven’t you told us of your existence? I would have liked to know I was driving a giant robot,” Tony Stewart gestured over his shoulder at Speedstrike as he said this. The Autobot second-in-command seemed taken aback. “The reason for that is simple; you haven’t been driving us. We only scanned and took place in your race for the first time this evening.” Prowl walked over to where the Autobots and drivers were assembled, “Prime, I think I’ve discovered the location of Jetblast, or at least his relative location.” He led Optimus over to the giant computer monitor he had been working at. “Here,” he said, pointing to a red dot on a map of the Southeast of the United States, “We’re not too far either.” “Prowl, you are to join Rev, Death Track, and Speedstrike to go after Jetblast. I will drive you to the location, but I must then return. I feel that you will not need me on this mission.” Speedstrike ran up to Prowl and Optimus with Rev and Death Track right behind him and said, “Aye aye, Prime! We won’t let you down!” Rev and Death Track stood back to back and nodded with smirks on their faces. The four Autobots transformed and drove into their respective haulers, Prowl and Speedstrike loading themselves into Optimus’s trailer, which had been parked outside with the other haulers. *** Upon arriving outside the Daytona track the four Autobots drove out of the trailers and transformed into their robot modes. The haulers drove off once the Autobots were out and the backs of the trailers closed. The sky was velvety black and the lights were on in the track. Prowl converted a small screen out of his red forearm. “Energon readings are constant, they spike every minute or so,” he said to the group. “Guess we’d better be ready for a fight,” said Speedstrike, sliding his black reflective visor down over his optics, as Rev and Death Track did the same. Prowl slid a plate out to cover his mouth. Each of the Autobots drew their own unique weapons. Prowl pulled a small pistol out of a holster on his right side hip, Speedstrike converted his right hand into his buzz saw. Rev drew a 30-06 hunting rifle off his back, and Death Track shifted his right hand into a belted machine gun-with three belts hanging off the bottom. The four Autobots walked around the track. Every once and a while the Energon spikes on Prowl’s monitor grew more frequent. Eventually the spikes grew as frequent as to be virtually nonstop. Prowl converted the screen back into his arm and said: “He’s in there,” as he nodded at an unlit garage a short distance from the track. Death Track lifted the heavy garage door and stepped back, pointing his gun inside alongside the others. “The only thing in there is a jet dryer. Two guesses who it is… and the first one doesn’t count,” he said. “So does that mean if I guess right the first time but not the second I’m wrong?” Rev inquired with a crooked smile on his face. Prowl approached the jet dryer and said, “Jetblast, reveal your robot mode or we will place you under fire. You are hereby under arrest.” Jetblast quickly transformed and knocked Prowl against a light pole, knocking him out. “Oh, but I have no intentions of going peacefully!” Jetblast said as he converted each of his hands into monstrous triple barreled guns. “Rev, you get to Prowl and drag him away, Death Track, you cover him!” Speedstrike shouted at his team, “I’m moving in…” Rev ran behind Death Track as he fired on Jetblast. Speedstrike ran towards the Decepticon and leaped at his head, making an attempt to slice his head with his buzz saw. Unfortunately Jetblast saw the attack coming and stepped out of the way which sent Speedstrike sprawling onto the pavement. He landed next to Prowl’s pistol, which he had dropped with Jetblast hit him, and picked it up to fire at the enemy. Rev and Death Track had managed to get over to Prowl during Speedstrike’s distraction, and at that moment Rev was carrying Prowl away while Death Track provided cover fire. Speedstrike continued to keep Jetblast’s attention so the other two Autobots could take Prowl to safety. Speedstrike made another quick attack on the Decepticon and managed to take a chunk out of the left side of Jetblast’s face, including his optic. “Puny Autobot, You dare defile me!” “Oh, I dare a lot of things,” Speedstrike said as he shot Jetblast with Prowl’s pistol. Jetblast, realizing he was at a disadvantage, decided not to give the other Autobots time to return and transformed into his vehicle mode, converting the jet dryer parts away to appear to be a regular truck. Rev and Death Track chose that time to make their return, shooting at the shrinking form of the Decepticon. “Should we go after him?” Rev asked. “No, there will be other days to kill that ‘Con, but that day is not today,” Speedstrike replied. “For the most part Prowl’s alright, just a little dazed,” Death Track said, “Come on, we’ll take you to him. The two Autobots led Speedstrike to the place they had hidden Prowl, next to the main entrance to the track. He was just coming to. “Speedstrike, what happened?” “You were knocked out by Jetblast, but you seem to be alright. We’ll have Ratchet take a look at you when we get back.” With those words Speedstrike put his hand to the right side of his head and spoke: “The mission was a success, Prime, requesting pickup.” It didn’t take long for Optimus and the other two haulers to come and pick up the Autobots. Before they knew it they were back in the base. Prowl and Optimus Prime were in a room off from the main hangar. This one was much smaller. “How are you holding up?” Prime asked. “Pretty good,” Prowl answered, “Ratchet sure can do his job.” “How was the mission?” “Usual, Jetblast got away, but from what Speedstrike told me he was severely injured. We won’t be seeing him for some time.” “Good, we don’t want to put any humans at risk… Now that Speedstrike managed to place a tracking chip onto Jetblast we will be able to find him when we need to. I know you will always keep his location up every time you bring the map up on the monitors. It’s time to get back to finding other Decepticons; we shouldn’t dwell too much on just this one…” Optimus left the room after saying that, leaving Prowl alone with his thoughts. “Sure thing, Prime, but I’ll be keeping an eye on our little friend…” Prowl once again activated the screen on his left arm, this time it displayed a small red dot moving northward, with the label “Jetblast” in Cybertronian next to it. Data File:Autobot Data File Rev Technical Data: Strength: 8 Intelligence: 8 Speed: 9 Endurance: 8 Rank: 7 Courage: 9 Fireblast: 8 Skill: 9 Bio: Rev is a joker. He somehow manages to turn everything into a joke, but still knows that there are times to be serious in the war. When the Autobots need a hunter, he’s the one they call. Armed with a 30-06-styled Cybertronian rifle he’ll track down and eliminate any Decepticon target Optimus Prime or Speedstrike send him after. He knows just how to stay silent and still, which suits his special armor qualities. Designed by Wheeljack before coming to Earth, Rev is able to scan his surroundings and temporarily alter his armors coloration to match that of his surroundings. He’s not invisible, but with his ability to remain still it takes a very keen eye to spot him, until it’s too late.
